Just wanted to share that my butterwort propped way more easily than I thought it would. ☺️ I started the babies 3/25/2024, so this is about 2 months of growth.

Got 4 new carnivorous friends the other day: 2 drosera, 1 ping, and 1 nepenthes. This is my first nepenthes though. Can I keep it in the same carnivorous mix I made for my other plants (peat, perlite, and sand)? The shop guy said I shouldn’t, but didn’t really tell me what to keep it in. It is in sphagnum and maybe something else right now, and I see Planta says carnivorous mix OR sphagnum, but wanted some opinions. Should I mix in a little sphagnum to my mix, or maybe make a layer of sphagnum on top? Oh, also, should it have a water basin with a wick like I give the others? Thank you! PS: I know the nepenthes doesn’t look great. The guy gave it to me for $15 because he said he sunburnt it a little. PPS: the plants are 1: Nepenthes rafflesiana white x caffelsiana 2: Drosera aliciae 3: Drosera intermedia 4: Pinguicula emarginata x moctezuma

My Venus fly plant hasn’t had much luck catching any flys yet… so I have to buy live bugs for it!!!! ???? I’ve been trying to trap flys in jars and they’ve gotten so close to the mouths of the plant but sadly not on it long enough to trigger the trap.

Did I successfully get one single pod of venus flytrap seeds this season??!? Update: I think so lol. It was my first time attempting to let the flowers grow and pollinate myself. Didn’t have the proper soil. Attempting to use decorative sphagnum cuz someone told me you could use it for flytraps before. Wish me luck. Will give an update in a few weeks if it goes well.

The first pitcher on my rehabbed Alata! She had the worst thrips last year & never produced a pitcher. I ended up chopping her into three and started over. I’m so happy 😁 Btw - you can use Bonide systemic granules for your nepenthes to prevent thrips. Something I wish I had known last year!

I cut off a new bud that was growing because I didn’t want the plant diverting its energy to it as healthy as the other flower shoot and plant is doing but I’ve noticed some mouldy stuff around wheee I cut. What should I do… leave it or try wipe it off with a cotton bud, could it be a bug nest because maybe that’s good as he can eat them

Would this terracotta pot be good for a venus fly trap? Currently it's in the setup it came in from the store, a plastic pot in a plastic cup which has been working really well. But its growing roots out the bottom of the pot so I need to upsize a bit. I just constantly keep it sitting in a full cup of water so figured this would work the same but this plants doing so well I dont want to mess it up!!

Hey everyone, my venus fly trap had flowered and as of a few days ago all of the flowers are dead. What should I do about the stem they were on? Should I cut it or just leave it??

I fed my Venus flytrap a big fly and it was about a week before my Venus flytrap opened like this. It’s been only half open like this for 4 days. The trigger hairs don’t work to close it again. What should I do

Hi plant people! This is a Venus flytrap named Seymour that I’ve had for like two years now. Last summer he died off completely but the bulb grew new traps. Since then he hasn’t been growing large traps or has been growing leaves with tiny buds where the trap would be, and has had browning on the edges. He gets enough light, is watered with distilled water, and was recently moved to a sphagnum/perlite mix that is more appropriate for his needs, but I haven’t seen any improvement. Could someone tell me what might be going on with him and what to try to help?

Not sure what’s going on with this little guy (unknown sarracenia maybe a purpurea) just started withering away. Soil is always wet and under a grow light. My other sarracenias are doing fine. thanks for any tips!

Are my flytraps getting too much light? They live under a grow light. They’re red so I thought they were healthy. But the leaves almost seem like they’re getting kind of burnt. Below is about a 5 week difference between the pics.
