Hello! Brand new to flytraps and have 3 now. Trying to prepare for repotting in the soonish future and confused as many things say to set pot with drainage holes in an inch of water, while others say the plant thrives in terrariums. I understand terrariums lock in moisture more but also that setting the pot in water allows the plant to absorb water as needed but is one better than the other? Should i set a pot with drainage holes in a terrarium rather than using the terrarium as the pot itself (similar to one of the left in photo below) Photo of the three below in their temporary homes.

Just got the cutest ever group of pings today and got them settled in their new little home. Totally new to carnivorous plants but am excited to see how they do! Any solid advice on pings in particular? The soil is really well draining. In succulent phase Iâm guessing they like to be a bit dry? (The Venus flytrap is also new to me in the last week)

Why is my Venus fly trap drooping? I have it in a windowsill facing south and it gets direct sunlight all day. I have it in a tray of distilled water thatâs up less than an inch and I only refill when itâs completely drained. The tray usually gives it enough humidity. Itâs been floppy since I got it (and it WASNT in those plastic container things)

Iâm thinking of getting my brother a Venus fly trap + pitcher plant combo I saw at my local nursery. Any care tips? He would keep it in his room.

Got this nepenthes a few weeks ago the oldest pitcher was dried out but had a few new ones growing in. The first of the new pitchers is about to open up. I feel like a proud mom they grow up so fast!

Update on Pete. Still looking a little rough, a bit droopy but to be fair the full sun hasnât quite returned. He got his very first pink trap! Itâs so cute. Thereâs also the one trap I fed which seems to be opening really slowly but Iâll update you all when that happens. I thought it might need more humidity and I was wondering if misting is okay as long as the plant itself isnât getting wet if anyone knows about that let me know please. HAPPY EASTER!!!

I REALLY want an indoor VFT but I feel like I would struggle finding it bugs? some people say they find their own however I never have any flies or anything in my home that it can eat where can you buy food for them? do you just feed with tweezers ect

Just got this Venus Flytrap from Walmart today, he looks very sad and droopy, and there are quite a few black parts attached to it! Any advice please?

Does my Venus Flytrapâs soil look too slimy to you? When I got it I knew itâs a generally swamp kind of plant so I thought this green ooze was natural and beneficial for the plant. As Iâve been reading more online about these little guys apparently itâs common for them to get algae and slime due to overwatering near the top. Should I scrape this off or leave it?

hey!! i wanted to see if anyone had any input before i repot my pitcher plants(i was sent 2 of the same plant on accident and also wanted to know if i could put them together). itâs been almost a week for them to acclimate and i wanted to know if itâs better to use a terrarium like either of these or if it would be better off in a pot. i have a constant struggle with keeping my humidity levels in this area up, and i would love a plant cabinet for my tropicals but thatâs just not in the cards for me rn. so maybe a mini one just for my pitcher plant? obviously i would open it daily for airflow i also have a lil fan on my plant stand for air circulation, i also know i would need to make sure i donât overwater, but i really just wanted someone elseâs input on the situation! ty!

I just took my VFT out of dormancy and I am so exited to watch it grow! I have it in sphagnum moss with a reservoir with distilled water and a dome over it to acclimate it back to the conditions in my house. Any tips?

so overall they seem okay..but thereâs 2 smaller traps on each plant i wasnât able to add water to as they hadnât opened yet and i didnât want to force them open, but they have since started shriveling. what should i do? cut them off? let them shrivel then pluck? also wondering if i should pot them together, the company sent me 2 on accident which lucky for me but now what to do with themđ€

Hi! I recently got a venus fly trap from Loweâs several weeks back. Since, Iâve repotted the plant into a deeper pot with a layer of Sphagnum moss and basic potting soil underneath and have been consistently bottom watering with recommended misting, but I noticed during repotting that the plant didnât have many roots and what was there seemed to be rotted. It was doing a lot better after I repotted, but now itâs showing yellowing in the corners of the traps that are beginning to turn black. Is this crown rot? If so, what do I do??

Hi team carnivorous đ Iâm brand new to the bug eater club & was advised to plant my little babies in a 50/50 mix of Sphagnum & Perlite. So I started the process of repotting today as my new babies are in a simple peat mix which seems very heavy & borderline stodgy. My question is regarding the live sphagnum mix I bought. Do I need to pick out all the little brown twig/pine needle looking bits so itâs just the green sphagnum going into the perlite mix or should I chuck it all in as is? Thanks in advance đ

sos!! i come outside today and what do i see on the doorstep? another package from the place i ordered the pitcher plant. they sent me a second one on accident!! should i pot them together in a 4inch pot? i know i should let them acclimate first but in a week or so should i pot them together?
