hey!! i wanted to see if anyone had any input before i repot my pitcher plants(i was sent 2 of the same plant on accident and also wanted to know if i could put them together). it’s been almost a week for them to acclimate and i wanted to know if it’s better to use a terrarium like either of these or if it would be better off in a pot. i have a constant struggle with keeping my humidity levels in this area up, and i would love a plant cabinet for my tropicals but that’s just not in the cards for me rn. so maybe a mini one just for my pitcher plant? obviously i would open it daily for airflow i also have a lil fan on my plant stand for air circulation, i also know i would need to make sure i don’t overwater, but i really just wanted someone else’s input on the situation! ty!

    Is there a chance the pot would fit inside? It’s a bit early for a hard repot. Because they are likely to create basals (grow another vine right next to the main growth as a part of the same plant) it’s not a good idea to put them in the same container. In about 2-3 years nepenthes enter the next stage in their growth where they begin to vine and when that happens they’re hard to keep in something small like that but that’s more of a thought for the future and this is a super cute little place for them. Especially if you’ll be manually feeding eventually when your own pitchers pop and you’re ready to fertilize.

    When you do repot someday, probably not for a year or so, don’t be disturbed that the roots are small and black. That’s completely normal for neps and they are really hard to root ror

    You’re unlikely to actually over water them, but it’s gonna be in your best interest to not repot them for about a year and to definitely not pot them together.

    (I’m also saying this from experience as I just had a plant vine in a way that has been just horrible to manage and I found out there was two separate plants in the same pot AND their basals and separating all of it has been absolute hell but it is a rescue)

      sometimes i wish i lived near the equator so i wouldn’t have to deal with winter and i could just have my plants outside in a greenhouse đŸ€ŁđŸ˜­đŸ˜­it would make everything soo much easier. i just worry about the humidity i have such a hard time keeping the area above 35-45 because of the radiator. but i will definitely heed your warnings and not repot yet or pot them together.😅guess i have 2 pitcher plants now lol. and i think im going to go for the terrarium that’s a bit bigger and has the flat side, they will definitely fit in there with their pots, they are only 2in size pots. in the (hopefully near) future my boyfriend and i wanted to enclose/insulate his back deck as a plant haven/catio because i swear i have the most behaved cat when it comes to plants, she literally acts like they’re non existent, which lucky me lol.

      They can adapt to 45 if, Google “nepenthes acclimation plastic bag method” that’s a great idea and so is the terrarium. You can set them on top of a layer of leca with a bit of water at the bottom inside a glass terrarium-don’t let them sit directly in water- and the worst thing that will happen is fungus gnats will appear in from the water but they will feed the pitchers if they do and not harm anything else.
