Picked this Sarracenia up a couple weeks ago. First new pitcher under my care coming up super fast! I’ve been surprised with the insane amount of wasps and other bugs these catch every single day. I have it sitting in a big tray of distilled water growing some Azolla ferns.

Help me please. I got this venus fly trap about a month ago and since then all of the traps have died. I have fed it once. I had it in a jar and misted it with distilled water to keep it humid.

Hi! I’ve had my venus fly trap for about 3 months now. I am really concerned because for the past week, I feel like there is something wrong with my plant. Two traps looks underdeveloped and I sometimes see a tiny insect walking on my plant and I’m not sure what it is (I’ve searched about it and I doubt it’s aphids). Now, the traps are unresponsive when the hairs are triggered except for two of them. One, closed slowly and the other closed halfway. I don’t know what to do. I need help please. I don’t want my plant to die. Thank you! I use the tray method and grow light (I give them 14 hours and sometimes more of light)

I am very worried about getting a flytrap. So did I get everything down: 1: wet feet 2: bright light (I will be using grow and natural light is that fine?) 3: Humidity (I live in a dry climate but rain has helped but I was going to mist and what else?) 4: Need to feed them live bugs 5: Keep in their type of soil (Can I use moss?) I think that’s it?

I just ordered my first pitcher plant! A nepenthes alata, I have sphagnum moss but what else/what should I do when she arrives in the mail?

I need help with my sundew! First photo is now, second photo is what it looked like when I got it. When i first got the plant, I put it under my grow lights inside. It lost its color and stopped producing dew because of the low humidity, so I moved it outside. I live in the low country of South Carolina, so I expected that the high humidity would help. It did, but now after having the plant outside for a while it’s starting to look worse than ever. What am I doing wrong? Another note - I am aware that you are only supposed to water sundews with distilled water, but I didn’t have any until very recently. I’m not sure if using tap water would be enough to kill it but I have now switched over to distilled (past day or so) Please help me save my plant!

Heyo just was wondering on one question, I just got a Venus flytrap and it’s extremely healthy but I only have a north facing window in my bedroom. Can flytraps survive on lower light or should I transport it to my other rooms to stay as healthy as it is?

Hello! I am new to carnivorous plants. And I am about to get a flytrap. I was wondering what there is I need to know about this plant, tips, etc. I live in a dryer climate btw.

Zina

I just purchased my first carnivorous plant. A pitcher plant. Any suggestions?

Aubrey

I’ve been really wanting to get a small Venus flytrap, and I have a question that’s probably really weird. Can Venus flytraps survive just on water, without flies or gnats? What is a Venus flytrap’s ideal setting?

Zan~ Anxious Planter

She’s not eating. I picked the healthiest looking trap and nothing is the abt to big is she just not ready to receive a meal or what. I live in NY and gave her local rain water as I don’t have access to distilled or r/o water she’s in her original pot I purchased her from Lowe’s. She has put out tiny traps at her base and have trimmed off black traps and leaves. (Update: Removed the ant) but still no trap closure upon further inspection the trap is a bit damaged but still.

First time VFTer here and I need any help I can get! I bought her with a long flower stalk so I let it bloom. Well now that it bloomed it’s dead and turning black. Is it safe to assume I can cut it off now? The rest of the plant is getting kind of leggy and stringy looking…is this normal or do I need to intervene? Typically I bottom water frequently with rainwater. Yes, I’m currently using a cake pan 🤦🏼‍♀️😬

Of 4 stems and two flower stalks I’ve got one left and I think it’s a good-un! There is an itty bitty baby trap coming in!!!! My first attempt(s) 🤞

Been having some issues with my pitched plant that I can’t figure out. It’s only on a couple leaves but I don’t want it to get any worse. Any ideas on what’s going on ?

It is very happy, but no pitchers! I am using tap water, should I switch to distilled? Should I fertilize? Can anyone spot a pest or disease? Thanks!
