Does anyone know how to prep dry bloodworms for a Pinguicula? Update: donât use blood worms! They burn the leaves and sheâs fine without them đ

I got a Pinguicula Martinezii a little over a month ago. It seems to be healthy and growing well, but the thing is, the leaves are not producing ANY mucilage to trap bugs. Which is the reason I got itâŠ. :( it doesnât appear to be in a dormancy because the leaves are large and flat like the carnivorous leaves should be. Iâve read on a few sites that it could be a sign of low humidity, so Iâve begun keeping it in a tray of water to improve humidity. But still dry leaves! Any other advice to get produce mucilage and catch some bugs?? Iâve attached a pic. Any bugs you see on the leaves, I have placed there myself in hopes that maybe it would kickstart the process???
Got some new Nepenthes from Carnivero đ N. vetchii Red baron (carnivero exclusive) mimiâs kiss (another exclusive) N. jamban letâs hope they do fine as they acclimate
Whenâs dormancy start???????
do venus fly traps also trap mosquitoes? asking for a friend.
I have quite the little army of Sundews now, and they are doing great with fungus gnats, but in the unlikely event there are not enough fungus gnats to feed them, how would I go about making sure they are well fed? TIA!
Advice please! First winter with pings in the upper Midwest. Theyâve been living happily outside on my east-facing porch since I got them, but weâre slated to drop below 40 F later this week, so I think itâs time to bring them in. I think they are Mexican Butterwort varieties. Iâm not sure how to balance their winter temp needs (outside will soon be far too cold, inside will be too warm) and light and humidity needs (do they need the same light/humidity during their dormant period?). How do yâall with pings successfully overwinter them? Thank you!
Sundew coming into bloom! So happy with this lil guy
Is it over for him? I've been using distilled water and hes got plenty of sun. Is this just dormancy? Some went full black and i took them off, but the big one is like stuck shut and is just spotted and partly yellow :(
Is it ok to put my Venus fly traps in a terrarium during the fall and winter months with a grow light?
So Iâve had my fly trap since August and itâs been growing and has been ok with no issues! The other day I noticed a little fly around the plant and I sat and watched for a while but the fly actually walked through the trap, it didnât close but when it flew off it then closed - a very slow reaction, this happened a couple of times! Am I missing something? Does anyone elseâs do this?
Been seeing a lot of âhey can I save my plantâ, so hereâs a quick infographic I made on the basics of VFT rehab! Note that this doesnât apply to other carnivorous plants like sundews or pitcher plants as it is based off the VFT rhizome (the fleshy root bulb)
Sorry I know Iâve posted a lot but just curious found a website that said There are no benefits of a hard dormancy there is also no point in trying to make the plant colder. As long as the photoperiod has shortened. Is this true because mine is already dormant and I havenât put it in cold at at?
Just wanted to show off some of my plants. Getting a shipment of Nepenthes that I will most definitely show off in the future :)
Peteâs new pot (I think heâs dormant btw)
Pretty sure sheâs still healthy but Iâm trying to learn how to be a good plant mom. She eats good, sheâs gotten about 1 fly per week on her own. However, my question isâŠwhen should I repot, is the soil healthy? It looks like thereâs some mold on the surface. Ultimately I want to put her in a tea cup but how should I go about that? She gets watered with rain water and I typically do that by placing her in a bowl with a little rainwater to soak up through the bottom.
How cold should I keep my Venus flytrap during dormancy? Iâm scared to put in garage cause im far North itâs gets super cold winters.
any tips on bringing back a sundew?? heâs doing so poorly i donât wanna post a pic but i feel like heâs not fully dead
i recently went through a very stressful move and my pitcher plant is not happy :( is there any hope for her?
Hey yâall! My âLady Luckâ Nepenthes has been THRIVING lately in her little terrarium. But recently one leaf has started developing spots. Worried this might be some sort of fungal thing. Thoughts? Should I go ahead and lop it off? And maybe increase circulation a bit? (Right now the terrarium is closed. Only opened when I feed her) Thank you for your help!!
