Hi all! This is my first pitcher plant, and overall I think it’s doing pretty well. Nice green growth, new tendrils, seems happy. It had pitchers on it when I got it and they have since dried up. I have all these nice looking tendrils, but none of them seem to be developing into pitchers. I noticed a little while ago that some new leaves were growing near the base and now one of them has a pitcher. Does this mean the other tendrils are not going to turn into pitchers? What can I do to encourage this? It’s in a window and also has supplemental light, so I don’t think it’s a light issue. It’s potted in carnivorous soil with some sphagnum moss mixed in. Any help is appreciated 🙂

Hey all! It's getting to be that time of year, and I was wondering if I could get a positive id on my sundew and my pitcher plant so I can know if they need to go into dormancy with my flytrap! I'm fairly sure the pitcher plant needs to (and is maybe starting to already), mostly just double checking for peace of mind, but I'm not sure if I have a temperate sundew or not. It was just labeled 'carnivorous plant' at the store 😅

My drosera, Squidward, had been flowering. They are so pretty. I noticed that each day a new flower opens and then dies, and that they are opening right down the row. Is that how they normally bloom? Also, I teach at an elementary school and was planning to keep a few pinguiculas in my classroom. I was also thinking of offering to bring in my other carnivorous plants to offer to show them to some of other classes (especially the younger grades) if any teachers wanted to bring them. Do you think younger kids would be interested in seeing them? I have a small Pitcher plant, droseras and pinguiculas. I thought I could show them to the classes and explain how they can catch bugs. The pitcher plant currently has a fly in each pitcher they might be interested in seeing. I was considering getting a Venus fly trap if classes were interested as they might be the most exciting for kids to see.

Hey all, New posting on here! I always wanted to grow carnivorous plants. Started with a Venus Flytrap…and that did not go well lol. But taking another chance with the easier Pitcher Plant, and I’m excited to see how it goes 🤞🏾

Why does the algae keep popping up. This is the second time. I’ve already taken 1.5” off the top and put new mix(sphagnum and perlite) about a week ago. Moved to more ventilated area. Grow light 13ish hours a day distilled water only. Sitting in about an 1nch of water.

I’ve been loving my pings lately! Top left to right: p. Pirouette, p. Esseriana, p. Lauena x emarginata. Bottom: drosera Capensis ( this was a little baby that came off of my mother drosera and it’s grown so much!) 🌱🌸 I can’t wait until my pings flower!

My drosera, Squidward, has a flower! Also, my tiny pitcher plant, Mr. Krabs, is doing so much better. I moved him to the garage because there were more fungal gnats. That didn’t seem to be making too much difference. I found a dead fly on the windowsill and put it in one of the pitchers and he has really brightened up! His leaves are now much greener and healthier looking.
