I've had carniverous plants for three years now, and I've never had this problem. The water in the bottom of some of the trays has developed a thin, milky film that I assume is bacterial. The first thing I did, of course, is clear out the water and wash the bottom of the pot and the tray with soap and water. But this did nothing; the film was back in a day or two. The next thing I did, which I have done several times now, is to put a little hydrogen peroxide into the tray with the water. This works great for about two or three days. But when the bubbles stop, the film comes right back. Does anybody else have this problem? It's not even happening with all of my carniverous plants, just my venus flytrap and my cape sundew babies.

Starting my carnivorous collection today with a vft. it appears to be in full, 100% peat, which i'm assuming is not particularly ideal, but i only have sphagnum moss to repot it in. is it worth the trouble, or should i wait for fall/winter time?

Hi everyone! I just started my carnivorous plant journey and bought: Drosera Capillaris 'Pink Sundew' Sarracenia 'Bug Bat' Sarracenia Purpurea 'Venosa Red' Venus Flytrap 'Akai Ryu' Venus Flytrap (normal) I plan on putting them all in one 24inch bowl as a bog and have gotten mixed suggestions online as to what to put in the bog. For example, I see a lot of people here putting these plants in just long sphagnum moss, but other online sites say to use peat moss and perlite, and others say to mix all three peat moss, perlite, and sphagnum moss. Which combo would you guys suggest for these plants in a bog system?

So, I've got about seven or eight carnivorous plants. A Venus fly trap, a few drosera and a few pitcher plants. It's still kinda cold here in PA. Do y'all think it would be alright if I put a heating mat for a reptile enclosure underneath them? Their spaghnum moss is COLD to the touch and I really don't want the babies to die.

Google says I'm supposed to let my Venus flytrap sit in a tray of water? Always.. would it be better to have it semi-hydro and some LECA ? Or is it fine in its little pot

I JUST got a Bloody Mary Pitcher plant. I know it only likes lime free water (rain, distilled, etc) and it likes high humidity. So my question is do I also have to use distilled water in my humidifier? I get I should (less build up) but I go through a gallon of water daily per each humidifier and that’s $$$$. Just wanting to see how necessary it is. #SingleMomBudget
