Got this Pitcher Plant Sarracenia, from amazon, kinda dissapointed that they shipped it inside a zip lock bag,
plus they shipped it in the mail box, hoping it recovers soon, it didn’t come with a pot, trying to isolate & recover inside this mini terrarium, any advice on making sure she survives?
Hello! I just got my first carnivorous plants. When I first brought them home about two weeks ago, I did some reading and was under the impression they needed to be kept quite moist at all times and had read to keep the bottom in water, so I had them sit in a shallow tray of distilled water for the first day or so. However, I think I overdid it and the leaves started turning yellow after a few days, I assume from overwatering. I haven’t watered them in several days now, do you think they will make a comeback? Is there anything I can do to help them? The pots they are in are tiny, but they do have drainage holes at the bottom.
Any tips appreciated for a first time carnivorous plant owner :)

Is it safe to use neem oil on carnivorous plants? I saw some aphids on my venus fly trap this morning :(
Any tips for other pest control products on carnivores welcome :)

Anyone have experience propagating pitcher plants? I’ve had 3 cuttings in water for a couple months now and its not rooting, theres new growth on one of them though and they aren’t dying either so i feel like thats good and maybe the other cuttings didn’t really take but any advice or clarity would be appreciated!

Are these bumps on my Nepenthes leaf bad or normal? If you Google bumps it usually says edema but they’re not red or rashy looking. Other things say nectar glands but doesn’t have a picture like this. I’m still trying to figure out what is dry enough to water without accidentally letting it dry out so I might be overwatering it. It just doesn’t look like pictures of edema. There are bumps on the older leaves too that I was chalking up to my plant living in a new place and probably not acclimated slow enough. But this is the newest leaf.
I’m also trying to figure out lighting. I panicked that my room was too dark and possibly over lit if with an LED light

Hey ya’ll! I’m getting my first carnivorous plant (nepenthes) in the next few days and I’m so beyond excited to feed it all the bugs in my apartment 🤣
I’ve been doing a ton of research and I’m feeling rather lost in it all. Some people say they’re super easy and others say it’s the most temperamental plant. I usually buy discount plants so this is the most expensive plant I’ve ever added to my collection and I really don’t want to mess this up.
My main questions for now:
If my pitchers arrive empty should I fill them 1/3 of the way with distilled water? I’ve heard mixed advice on this.
I’d like to get a prettier hanging planter for it as well, is something self watering recommended? I know they like a lot of water but can get root rot so I wasn’t sure if a self watering planter or one of those watering globes in a traditional planter would be better.
My apartment isn’t very humid but I was thinking of hanging the plant over my fish tank (not in the water though), would that be enough humidity or should I look into a humidifier?
Sorry for the long post but I’d appreciate any advice!

Hi guys! I’m absolutely terrible at keeping plants of all kinds alive! However! I want to change that! I’d like a carnivorous plant as I already have insect farms I can use to feed them! What type of plant should I try?

Hi, I’m interested in getting some carnivorous plants and am wondering what are some good ones to start with and like the care they need and a good place to get them.

I just got a baby sarracenia as an impulse buy (it was on sale!) and I don’t know what to do now that I know they are supposed to go dormant. Do I throw it in the fridge? Do I blast it with light? Do I pop it on a chilly windowsill and let it decide? I’m generally good with plants, but I’ve never had the skill to gauge dormancy.
(Ps I’m getting distilled water for it tomorrow and I have a tray)

Question please.
Hope everyone is well this New Year’s.
Have already identified three babies but then this giant thing that grows about three or 4 inches a day (no jokes) looks like an eye is going to open up.
I noticed a tiny ball at the base of my plant four days ago and now it is taller than the whole plant.
Is this gonna be a new pitcher?
First pic is of two tiny babies.
Second is the ball.
Third is the ball starting only four days ago!
Grew hella fast!
Thank you for any and all answers.
I just finished pulling three tiny mushrooms out of the medium as well as some of that directly under and around to get rid of any spores.
Any thoughts on this?

I’m so excited!! 😆 All 3 of my cuttings are rooted and showing growth points! My beautiful Alata lives on 🥰 and it’s such a relief, I was so worried. She was murdered by thrips 😱

I just received a vft, pitcher plant and a sundew. The vft and sundew arrived in tiny terrariums. They are in windows that are south facing. Now what do I do?! lol Do I leave them as they are?

I have a ping, sundew, VFT, and nepenthes are 2-3 wide. Can you show me your beginner friendly set ups? I am so lost .
The picture below is before they are all separated now but not in the best condition for long term survival.
