I’m needing to repot my pitcher plant, but I was told regular potting soil is not good for them. I found this on Amazon. Has anyone used this or have a better idea of what to use?

    carnivorous plants like “poor soil” — sphagnum moss works, and i’m sure there some of that in here (looks like hamster bedding doesn’t it??) i’m sure this would be good, but if straight sphag moss is cheaper, do that 🤷

    I have some of the moss, so just plant it in just that?!

      Just get some plant mix make sure it’s carnivorous and see how it works

    The best way to do it would to get some good sphagnum moss and mix it up with perlite at a 1:1 ratio. If you want to buy a pre-mixed soil, california carnivores and carnivero have the best stuff. If you look at mixes on amazon you’ll find peat and perlite which isn’t suitable for a nepenthes (pitcher plant).

      I know this isn’t what the conversation is about but peat-perlite is indeed suitable for nepenthes

    Personally I like to use sphagnum, bark and chunky perlite and I get them from Amazon 😊

    Make sure it's organic, sometimes some soil has other things in it

    Thank you all for the advise. It’s been a while since I posted this and I hadn’t done anything yet. Carl is inside now in a west facing window and still doing great. I’m afraid to repot him since he’s doing so good.

    It’s been a while since I asked about this stuff, and I still haven’t repotted Carl. But he’s doing so well, is there a certain time of yr to repot these?
