Just took home this little guy and I’ve never had a carnivorous plant (with the exception of a Venus fly trap as a kid, which I sadly killed very promptly lol 😢). I’ve done some research and know some general care tips, but does anyone have specific brand or product recommendations for 1) soil for eventual repotting, or 2) food/nutrients if it needs it?
I'd recommend looking at California Carnivorous for some info. They also sell a great sundew planting mix. As far as fertilizer it shouldn't need it, as long as its getting bugs. Though I personally keep maxsea on hand, too much fertilizer can kill them. You can supplement with some fruit flies from the pet store. They also do best in a water tray. Distilled, RO or Rain water only. No tap water or spring water, the chemicals and minerals will kill them.

I second this! They also do very well in Canadian peat moss media! Its best to keep the water trays filled 1/4 to a inch deep & its okay to allow the soil to dry out a bit in-between watering. I don’t usually feed my carnivorous plants though, I assumed they get alot of its nutrients from the soil. They like bright light so I would place it less then 1ft away from a south facing window. Btw RO means reverse osmosis, just incase you didn’t know😅

Use distilled water (grocery stores) if you can’t get RO water. Good luck! 💚
