I REALLY want an indoor VFT but I feel like I would struggle finding it bugs? some people say they find their own however I never have any flies or anything in my home that it can eat where can you buy food for them? do you just feed with tweezers ect
you can get live insects at pet stores! make sure the size of the bug will fit comfortably in the trap. i would say the best way of getting the bug to the trap would be with tweezers. you can use pretty much any kind of bug, some being easer than others, but as long as it is alive and still moving, then its a go! also in case you didnt know, feeding one trap per plant is just fine. that trap will feed the entire plant. and feedings should be about once every month, if i am remembering correctly. good luck!!
0 J'aime can you get the bugs in small units? they wouldn’t survive over until the next month would they so you’d just have to buy fresh every time?
0 J'aime i think you can, but mealworms might keep the longest. Plants with Krystal on Youtube uses these, and she keeps them in her fridge. they go dormant, im guessing from the cold, and dont need to be fed or anything!
You can also use dried blood worms but you will have to tap every trigger hai and massage the plant once closed so it comes with its own challenges

My VFT is indoor and has plenty to eat. I was curious about that as well but I have it by other plants and it’s thriving!
0 J'aime How do you know if they’ve caught something and eaten? Like do they look a bit sad if they haven’t eaten?

A trap will be closed and kinda lumpy if it’s caught something. If a trap triggers falsely, or if prey gets away, it will reopen in a few days. They have a tremendous fail rate in the wild, and don’t really need to feed very often. It’s just kind of a bonus when they do
