Didn’t think I saved my basil plant soon enough. But we have roots! Hallelujah.
Hi everyone! Brand new here 👋🏻 and to plants 😅 I always used to joke that I had a black thumb and everything I touched died. I did manage to keep a really sturdy little cactus alive for a few years as a teenager, but eventually I even killed that! But last year I was given a plant (Planta says it’s a silver inch leaf?) and have managed to nurse it back to health twice. The first time the custodian knocked it off my desk, and the second time it broke off nearly at the root due to residual damage from being knocked off the desk 🙄. Anyway, it’s been fun taking care of the little baby, and I was given another plant for my birthday a few months ago that I’ve managed to keep alive, and my mom was surprised I got multiple blooms out of it, so I figure maybe I’m not so bad at this plant thing after all. At the very least, if I can learn to teach algebra, build out a cargo van, and fix computers (all things I NEVER thought I would do), then I can totally learn gardening. Right?? Anyway, two questions: any vital tips for a beginner?? And any plants you would recommend for my first plant purchase?? Thanks!! 😊
Help! Any recommendations for dealing with gnats? 😩 I have a feeling that all my plants have them (some more than others) and my house is full of these freaking annoying little flies….. I’m already using the stickers, but has anyone used Neem Oil? Does it work? 🤞🏻 thanks!
Look, the Christm— I mean the Thanksgiv—fine, the HALLOWEEN Cactus is blooming!
Can anyone tell me what’s wrong with my philodendron? Is been fine, until I looked at it tonight, and it had a big spot on the end of its only pure yellow leaf. It’s not overwater, because I don’t water it until it is bone dry. I also have black spot in the house, and it has undergone three sprays of neem oil. TIA for any comments…🤗💚🪴
Guys I just really love plants. I’m ready to turn my house into the jungle I deserve! 🌱
I just bought this about 2 weeks ago. Does he need to be put in a bigger pot? Do I unravel the roots? Or just let him be? I also haven’t added new soil, do I need to do that as well?
This is what my all allocasia root looks like now. Is it ready to put into soil, or should I take some intermediate steps; someone mentioned something about putting sphagnum moss in the water, I think to help it begin to adjust to soil??? TIA for any helpful comments in getting this poor root on its way to a real life! 🤗💚🪴 PS. It looks like it’s actually putting out some new, baby leaves… !!!
hello planty folks! i got bored after work and thought maybe i could interact more on planta. (if this isn’t allowed, PLZ TELL ME!! and sorry if it’s not!) so have fun with it and don’t feel pressured to answer them all. ♪ 1. favorite color 2. least favorite color 3. hobby’s 4. favorite type of plant 5. favorite song(s) 6. favorite music artist(s) 7. cats or dogs 8. favorite food 9. and one fun fact about yourself! happy planting! ♪
Anyone that lives in N.C., have you brought your plants back inside your house yet or are you leaving them out a little longer? I brought mine in about 2 weeks ago but the weather has been in the 70’s during the day and only going below 50 maybe two days a week. So I want to know if maybe I should leave them out a little longer?
Planta’s telling me I should winterize my mini roses…but they’re indoors, so what does this mean for me? The plant is doing well, I’ve kept it in a window that gets bright light all day pretty much (it is west facing), and I use a grow light on cloudy days. Thus far, the plant is doing really well, even though temperatures outside have dropped to 50-60°. It’s starting to bloom, and I put fertilizer in it every two weeks or so depending on when Planta tells me to. Should I continue what I’m doing? Or should I stop fertilizing now? I like it to be in bloom, I’ve had the plant for about a year and a half.
What is this small bug on my milkweed? Any help is appreciated.
Was watching a rainforest survival/trek show last night with my hubby and plant nerd me was pointing out all the plants. “That’s a monstera!” “Omg look at that alocasia!” “Wow is that a staghorn fern?” And my hubby just patted my hand and said I know you’re having fun babe but all I see are leaves lol. Non-planty people just won’t get it 😂😱🌱🪴💚
