I had planned on repotting Goldy in the spring, because sheās pretty unwieldy. However, when I took her to the sink for a bath and drink, it seems her roots are coming out the bottom.
So, I guess she will be getting an extreme haircut and a new pot. Maybe I can get some good variegation back in her with a good prune and a location change. And if not, thatās good too.

Does anyone put a grow light on your snake plant? Wondering if itāll like it. The rest of my plants love grow lights but didnāt know if it will burn a snake plant.

Any tips/advice for fertilizing plants using a self watering rope? Iām new to fertilizing my house plants, but am going to give it a try per the appās instructions. The first plant Iām to fertilize is my fiddly fig that is self-watered. Itās fiddly and Iām nervous! Do I add the fertilizer to the self-watering reservoir or top water it? TIA!!

Hi all! Looking for a little inspiration for my trandescantia. I had her on a trellis but she overgrew it and it couldnāt stand her weight š pic 1 is before detangling her. Pic 2 is where we landed in a new pot after she lost some stems in the process. I basically just put all the vines on top of each other so my cat didnāt eat her š Wondering what creative things other people have done to display their trandescantia?

Hello Planta community!
New gardener here. Last fall I created my first garden. Itās all perennials and ornamental grasses in the āNaturalistic Styleā. Iām wondering if I should cut all these plants down before spring like I would if they were established. Theyāve only been in the ground since early October and are very small. Figured Iād start here for guidance before searching each individual plant. My plants include:
Anise Hyssop, Amsonia Hubrichtii, Amsonia Blue Ice, Aster Eastern Star, Calamagrostis Acutiflora, Deschampsia Cespitosa, Echinacea Purpuria, Rattlesnake Master, Festuca Glauca Elijah Blue, Allium Millenium, Little Blue Stem, Hakenochloa Grass, Little Spire Russian Sage, Rudbeckia American Gold, Sedum Autumn Joy.
Thanks!!!
Ida

Advice needed! New plants and Iām clueless š
Hiiii everyone, Iāve been itching to expand my plant collection and today I got 6 new ones Iāve never had before. After putting them in my Planta app I realized I had no idea what I was doing when it comes to caring for some of them. Iām also quarantining my new plants for the first time since I didnāt get them from greenhouses I know & trust. I would really appreciate advice on how to help them thrive and also what issues/pests to watch out for! The plants in question are:
- Elephant ear (not sure what variety, I think the normal kind? Got it from the farmers market)
-Swiss cheese plant cutting (rooted)
-Philodendron Micans cutting (fresh, not rooted)
-Pearl and Jade Pothos cuttings (x2, rooted)
-Satin pothos starter plant from a cutting
-Baby variegated Alocasia (dawn?), growing from a corm in a lil container of sphagnum moss (has a dome lid not shown)
The elephant ear has some weird texture on its leaves but I didnāt really see any signs of pests, Iām still quarantining it from the other new plants (which were all from the same source) just in case. I hoping it just got a bit chilly while outside at the farmers market and is being dramatic.
