What does Planta consider part sun? I have a single east facing window in the room my plants are in that recieves a good few hours of direct light in the morning and less in the afternoon/evening, and based on what Planta had told me, most of my plants need to be within a foot or two to be getting proper light. Even my succulent (as shown in the pics) is placed in the window and Planta says its not getting enough. Is this correct? Could there be something I’m doing wrong?

Does anyone think this is too leggy for a Blood Leaf plant? I had it in my SE-facing window, but I’m not sure it was getting enough light. It also leans strongly toward the sun. I rotate every day. Seems healthy otherwise. I don’t really know anything about it tbh. I just thought it looked cool with a cool name.

Ok this is random, but in theory could you cut off healthy roots from a plant, and it be ok? Would anything happen to the plant? Also, if you can do this, could you grow a new plant just from the roots, or does it not work like that? Just a random question that popped into my head :)

Didn’t this app have a light meter? I can’t find it lol

Plants advised me to ā€œremove suckersā€ what does that mean?

Hey Plant Fanatics! I’m a first time plant mum to quite a few house plants… in which I’m struggling with!! Firstly my monstera looks quite sad… any advice Secondly my fiance left my Peace Lily outside and she now has sun stroke.. any advice to help her. Also any advice to starting planting seeds. I really want to grow herbs from scratch and was wondering if I could use old soup cans to do this in???

Hello! So my Zz plant is pushing out two baby stalks and it’s time to water, it hasn’t had any fertilizer yet since I got it a few months ago, should I skip it so as to not shock the babies or should I not worry?

Can anyone tell me why my mint plant is getting these yellow/white leaves? I didn’t think to take a picture before picking off most of the dead leaves. But alot of them were this white looking color. It’s been outdoors and doing so well until now

Hi! Some of my plant babies are needing a nice repotting, but I’m not quite sure what soil mix to pot them in. The plants in question are: spider plant, string of bananas, monstera adansonii, and pink ficus. A lot of these plants’ soils have become hydrophobic and sponge-like, and I want my babies to thrive. These plants all seem to like looser, well draining soil, but I want to create my own mix to best fit each of their needs instead of buying a typical ā€œwell draining soilā€ and putting them all in it. Does anyone have any diy mix ratios that they find work best for these plants? I have perlite, sphagnum moss, peat moss, and some pebbles currently, and am able to get more materials pretty easily.

Calling all ficus/FLF lovers! I might have made a post about my Ficus benghalensis "Audrey" not coming out of winter hibernation. After cutting back the very top (recommended for stunted ficuses) she started to push out a new stem! Question is, if she's now growing toward the left, what should I do to balance her out so she's not leaning towards the side? I see online that notching isn't effective on young ficuses, but maybe I'm wrong? Are there any other techniques y'all have tried that were successful?

Has anyone figured out how to get big leaves on string of hearts (or other string-of plants)? I used to get 1-2ā€ hearts but after I trimmed her several months back I’ve gotten max dime-sized leaves. I’m sure being farther up the vine helps, but I haven’t been able to replicate the larger size with my props, either. I’m having the worst time getting my camera to focus but you get the idea. My old leaves mostly looked like the larger and now they’ve all switched to the smaller on the node right below.

I was given this plant, does anyone know what it is? Also, should I repot it in something bigger?

Got this new spider plant as a gift. Need to repot her because the pot she came in didn’t have drainage holes. I’m actually thinking about repotting most of my plants. Started my plant journey this year so I thought miracle grow was a great choice but I realized the drainage is poor now that I’ve done a lot of research even if I add perlite and now a lot of my plants have fungus gnats because the soil stays wet way too long. I even delay watering when I’m reminded to on the planta app. I guess my question is what’s your go to chunky soil mix even if it’s one that you buy already made?
