***UPDATE*** I went to Johnsons Garden Center and spoke with them about the situation with my beautiful monstera. He recommended soaking her in peroxide for 15 minutes and let it foam up and then rinse off. It worked perfectly no more smell or anything. I am putting her in lecca for now and see how she does.đ Thank you everyone for all of your recommendations! Needing help! I am fairly new to the plant world and need help! I have purchased a 26â tall Thai Constellation that was grown completely in an hydro/aquarium environment. Her aquarium broke and she had to rehome this Thai plant. She said that I can keep it in water or transfer it to soil (my preferred method is soil). However, the water HAS to be changed out every 3 days max. I can not even describe how disgusting the smell is and the slim build-up after 3 days.đ€ź I did cut off the softer, longer roots. Can I cut off the root mass hanging on? Or will that kill the plant? It is only one plant and can not be split up. She has at least 7-8 new ones starting to show. The leaves are absolutely huge and gorgeous, hence why I wanted her so bad. Can anyone offer recommendations on transferring her to soil or a better way to keep her in water without having an aquarium? Thank you for any help you can provide.đđđȘŽ

I bet Iâm not the only one here who can say that I literally have no other social media than this, and thatâs just fine with me!đ
Thrive Tuesday! You know the drill, share those happy plant pics in the comments đ
Was feeling a bit cheeky đ€ and stopped at my local Squires garden centre and bought a couple of Rex begonias⊠and some terrariums đâš Absolute love them! Now I know begonias arenât really âfull terrarium plants,â but I just couldnât resist. Iâm not even that into begonias normally â Iâve only got one in my collection (the maculata* đ) â but once I saw these little beauties I literally couldnât pass up the opportunity for my experiment đżđ Iâve been really into terrariums lately but never actually had the chance to properly make one, so my impulses definitely got the best of me⊠and I splurged đ đž (side note: why are big empty glass containers SO expensive?? Who knew?!) But honestly, I loved it. Getting my hands dirty and creating a little world of my own felt so satisfying đȘŽâš I even added some Smiskis in for decor so at night they glow and just sit there looking cute as anything đ„čđ My maintenance plan for now is basically: âą wiping off excess condensation đ§ âą airing out the cork terrariums every now and then đŹïž But I just love them already!! I even popped in a few corms and my dormant anthurium (no clue what type tbh đ). Two of the corms did go mouldy đŹ but honestly Iâm not too bothered â Iâve moved on from my alocasia madness anyway, it was more of an experiment than anything. And the BEST bit â my dormant anthurium/corm thingy has gone all green!! đ so I know sheâs coming back to life, which is so exciting!! I chose begonias mainly because I find just moss + fittonias a bit boring (sorry đ unpopular opinion I know). I just donât find fittonias cute at all 𫣠BUT a fern⊠now THAT I could get behind đżâš I just didnât manage to find any at my garden centre this time. Anyway!! Please enjoy the mental plant chaos and feel free to drop any tips, advice, or other plant ideas I could use in a terrarium đ„°đȘŽđ«

I was given an old prickly pear cactus that had been dropped and broken and just placed back in soil. I ended up repotting all the pieces in a pot and hoping for the best. Eventually they started getting sprouts but those sprouts just keep getting longer and longer and Iâm worried itâs never going to get wider to be able to support itself!! Has anyone seen anything like this? Is it normal? Is there anything I should do? Overall it seems so happy but I donât know whatâs going onđ
I am planning on repotting my snake plant this weekend. Should I separate out the new baby thatâs peaking up? Very new to indoor plants so not sure the best to transplant this.
I got this monster of an Alocasia at my local nursery, and it was listed just as âAlocasiaâ. I was wondering if any of yâall had any idea which variety it was? P.S. can yâall believe she was on sale for $35!!!
After I cut some big stems to propagate, all these little baby leaves have popped up. Should I cut these so the energy goes to the big stems or leave them?
Hello! I got this pony tail palm or whatever it is called from ikea awhile ago, I am wondering how I should repot it next time (and if anyone has any suggestions about if itâs due soon to be repotted and what kind of soil, pot, etc.) I made a little dredge to get water away from the trunk, I usually bottom water it and mist it when I mist it other plants. I fertilize every month or so, he has all purpose potting soil and some extra perlite and some rocks in the soil along the bottom to help with drainage. He looks dark around the soil line because I just cleaned off the dirt that was on it from before, itâs usually just normal trunk coloured đ Wondering if anyone has any advice for care, hes gotten much bigger than I anticipated and I want him to have a long and prosperous life, so any advice is welcome! Thank you!!!
I also grow peppers

I have been chosenđ€© Both Alocasias and my Thai Con at the same timeđ my Frydek Dida Von Tease has been dormant for a year just sitting there with one beautiful leaf that she finally absorbed last week. I can see new shoots forming at the base as well.
What is this that my fern is growing?
Sheâs blooming and I just had to share.
I have a fuschia tree indoor currently on my east facing window sill. I just got it two weeks ago from my local greenhouse. It was full of flowers. I followed plantaâs care and whatnot. I noticed it was looking very dry and the leaves were getting really dry and shriveled and falling off. According to plantaâs diagnosis it needed more watering so I was watering it more. Now it seems like one side is still not doing good but the other side is flowering and looks good. We havenât even been having sun at all so I know that other side isnât fried from the sun. Any tips on whatâs going on, how to fix it?
Does anyone make their own soil from kitchen compost? I have a composter, mix that dirt with commercial indoor potting soil but it is so hard after I repot. So far some of the repots seem fine but some arenât doing well.
Hello đđŸ everyone I just got a clipping of a fiddle leaf fig from a friend today and she said to plant it right away so I did, my question is do you think the pot is too big? Should I repot in something smaller? She also gave me a huge monstera clipping Thank you Planta community for your advice â€ïžđ±đżđŒ
