Anybody have the back story on why Swiss cheese monsteras are also called “monkey masks?” 🤔

I accidentally snapped a Zz stem off of my plant, should I toss it or is it worth propagating? When it comes to propagating, I know you can from the leaves, or the rhizomes themselves. But my question is, can you just pop the whole stem in water?

We live in Las Vegas where the humidity is extremely low 13%, do I need to adjust our watering routine?

Hiii So I just bought a fukien bonsi tree about a month ago and all of a sudden she has lost every single leaf 😪 I’m confused because she would dry completely out within 2-3 days so I would water her maybe 2-3 times a week and now it looks very sad lol. The inside of the tree is still green so I don’t think it is completely dead but I’m not sure if I’m past the point of saving. Plz lmk if there is anything I can do to salvage her 🙏🏼

Sadly, I moved and all my old plants died (it was over 10 of them). They didn’t survive the move & slowly died all at once. I’m finally starting my plant collection back up so I wanted to show off my new beauties. 🥹💕 I also just started a garden a couple days ago & planted a mammoth elephant ear bulb, which I’m excited for it to grow. I know elephant ears can be stubborn to grow so any advice would be awesome. I currently have it in a 12 inch pot with a mix of 2 different soils - all purpose & peat moss blend. It sits in the sunniest window of my apartment but once the freeze warnings are gone, it will be moved outside. I live in Missouri so the weather here gets EXTREMELY hot & cold.

After freezing for a week on its way to me in January, my Hoya “sunrise” seemed okay. But ironically, now that it’s warm and safe, it has been slowly and sadly dying off, one or two leaves at a time. I cut off a few bits in the hope I could root them, but I wonder if it’s just done.

Plants keeps telling me to fertilize my peacock moss. What are y’all’s thoughts on this?

What’s going on with my string of bananas/dolphins…? It’s been so healthy and growing strong but now the top is basically dead.

I’m new to fertilizing my houseplants and am curious what other people do. This plant food has directions for every-time watering or a stronger “recipe” for twice a month feeding. Have you all had more success one way or the other? This is my first water cycle of feeding all my plants, so I haven’t seen positive or negative responses yet. I did the seven drops, but I’m wondering if I should go stronger. Would this be a shock to plants that have been on a water only diet?

Do y’all use the app for watering schedules and fertilizing and misting? I use to until I got some dead plants.

Hi friends! My dieffenbachia baby has been looking very sad recently and I’m unsure what she wants. I’ve had her for a couple of months, and she has seemed quite happy getting very bright but indirect sunlight near my south facing window. About a week and a half ago she started to get very wilty/droopy. I mist her regularly and follow Planta’s suggested watering schedule. I don’t think I’m under or overwatering her and nothing has changed. Is she being dramatic or does she need something? She’s still in her grow pot, so perhaps her potting mix isn’t so great? She doesn’t seem root bound. Based on what I’ve read, I moved her away from the window the other day as maybe she’s getting too much sun now that we’re coming out of winter? You can see the difference in her profile pic vs the pic below. Any suggestions or advice are very welcome. Thanks!

We have been discussing our favorite spring bulbs for some time now and here they are, but we would love to see and read about your favorites as well! Got a cute little flower sticking up in the planters somewhere? Or an old photo of when the spring bulbs grew all over the place? Time to share some spring feelings in the comment section! 🌷 and here are our favorites as well: "Crocuses are some of the most beloved spring flowers in the garden. They bloom in a range of vibrant purples, oranges, and yellows to delicate whites, pinks, and blues, as well as multicolored and striped patterns. Reminding us that spring's promises are just around the corner. These low-maintenance garden plants offer a feast for the eyes and an important early food source for bumblebees." - Anton "Botanical tulips, include both wild species and lightly hybridized varieties, offer a natural, wildflower-like beauty. Smaller and more delicate than traditional hybrids, they bloom early in spring and return year after year, naturalizing over time. Hardy and low-maintenance, they thrive in well-draining soil and full sun, making them perfect for borders and rock gardens. Plant once, and enjoy their vibrant charm season after season." - Elin "Scilla, a genus of charming spring-blooming bulbs, brings a touch of wild beauty to gardens and natural landscapes. From the vivid blue hues of Scilla siberica to the delicate starry blooms of Scilla bifolia, these resilient flowers thrive in woodlands, rock gardens, and meadows. Naturalizing with ease, they return year after year, forming carpets of color that signal the arrival of spring. Hardy and low-maintenance, Scilla flourishes in well-draining soil and partial to full sun, requiring little care beyond planting. Beloved by pollinators, these early bloomers provide a vital nectar source, making them as beneficial as they are beautiful." - Ida
