Hiii So I just bought a fukien bonsi tree about a month ago and all of a sudden she has lost every single leaf 😪 I’m confused because she would dry completely out within 2-3 days so I would water her maybe 2-3 times a week and now it looks very sad lol. The inside of the tree is still green so I don’t think it is completely dead but I’m not sure if I’m past the point of saving. Plz lmk if there is anything I can do to salvage her 🙏🏼

I’m seeing spots on the leaves.. maybe some kind of pest or bugs. Do you see any webs anywhere on the plant or the leaves that’s fallen??

Specifically this leaf is the one I’m talking about with spots

I noticed that as well, but the spots on the under part of the leaves was what I was more concerned about. I had a plant that started doing this as well where the leaves got really crispy & then literally all of them fell off. Came to find out, I had spider mites & had to treat all my plants because of that one plant. It’s just a guess but I could totally be wrong.

Ssooo 2-3 times a week sounds like way too much. Is the soil peat based? Sucked away from the side of the pot? It sounds like maybe you watered, but it was running right through? If that's the case you can bottom water it, it will often fix this problem for awhile. Just set the pot in a dish of water that goes about half up the pot, for 1/2 hrs or so. If that was the issue, you should see the media expand back to the sides of the pot and be fully saturated. And can go back to top watering if you prefer, until you notice it running through again The other possibility is pests, losing leaves like this when they are still green can sometimes be a pest like spidermites or thrips. So id do a thorough inspection for those too.

Yeah it seemed the water wasn’t actually watering the plant, but I’ll try that and see. Tyy

It's really frustrating, I usually end up repotting with less peat/coir in the mix. But the soak will help for awhile

They are deciduous, but i don't see these going into full dormancy when inside usually. Not impossible obviously.

They are extremely hard to take care of same thing happened to mine and I popped it in some water good luck trying to find something clear big enough and cute and it started regrowing leaves then when I repotted it it dropped all its leaves again I even bought a special bonsai soil and pot but didn’t have luck

If the soil is not properly absorbing water - you may want to pop it out of its pot and soak the rootball to loosen the soil. Let it REALLY drain and then repot it in new recommended soil. I think the big question is the length of time it’s been in the soil…?
