this has been my family’s “dump the extra water on it” plant since we got it about 4 years ago. never fertilized/repotted/staked anything. today i took a look at it and realized it was in a pot with no drainage and sitting water, so i took it out, only to realize it’s actually 3 separate plants of 2 different types. my plant scanner says the left one is a lucky bamboo and the right one is a corn plant. i cleaned them off and popped them in two glass jars with water in them. the roots look/feel good, no mushy or shriveled bits, but the leaves obviously have some spots on them. i guess my questions are this: 1. are these the correct names? 2. i know lucky bamboo can stay in water for a while, but what about corn plants? i’ll put them in soil and pots soon, but i’d like to leave them in the water for a couple weeks if possible. i’d appreciate any advice y’all have!
My var alocasia frydek just put out an almost completely white leaf. However, there is a *teensy* bit of green on it. What do you think its chances are of not wilting? I included a photo of the previous leaf just because it’s nearly all green, so maybe its photosynthesis can make up for it?😂 The plant is located in a greenhouse with 70-75% humidity and grow lights.
Help! I’ve only had my monstera for two months and it’s gone from looking like this … to this! 😭 what am I doing wrong?!! Is it too dark in this corner? Any tips please 🙏🏻
Philodendron Bipennifolium Variegated not found in the database. I followed the directions to request this plant to added to the database, however I don’t get a request option! Is there a trick that I’m missing? As far as I know, I have the latest IOS and there are no Planta updates!
Hi all! I just bought my first ZZ plant and ruby rubber plant. Do you recommend I repot them or keep them in their grow containers (and place them into pots decoratively)? Normally I repot fully, but was thinking recently maybe it would be easier to water them in their grow containers. Thank you!
Who says Peace Lilies prefer low light? Isn’t she beautiful? ☺️
Couldn’t help myself and grabbed these baby’s. I was gonna propagate a snake plant but I didn’t want to wait so I can propagate more of them from one. Any tips on the purple passion plant is well appreciated.
Which grow light position will be most effective for my monstera? I’ve had it up on the shelves for a few months and everything has been fine. I’m considering moving it closer (windowsill, still more than 30cm away from the closest leaf) but I’m concerned about burning the leaves, what do you all think? Edit: this east ish facing window doesn’t get a lot of light through because of the angle and the neighbour’s house being so close! I found the natural light by itself wasn’t enough for this large plant and once I supplemented with the grow light it really thrived
New pots for my windowsill plants and they look awesome, coffee plant is in recovery right now but we have some new leaf growth at the top so I'm hopeful
So just watered my snake plant and the drained water has been looking like this for a while now. What does it mean? Time for new soil, lack of nutrients in the soil, fungus?? I have a few other plants that does this as well.
Hello All! I’m going into my first foray with growing flowers in a hydroponic garden. I have baby’s Breath, Snap Dragons, and Aster planted. Anything I should know going in? We’re on day one!
Hi all, I have a bit of a confusing situation, I have this flamingo flower plant which is kinda drying out, which isn’t my issue.. (and ignore the other dying plant 😅) Last night I heard something falling and this morning I suddenly saw a hole in my plant and lots of soil around. It looks like it’s imploded??? Or maybe something got in there?? I don’t have any pets so I’m soo confused. Is there any logical reason as to why this happened? I’m really hoping it’s not a rodent 😭😭😭 I’m so baffled Edit: just a background, I live on the ground floor of an apartment complex
My Dieffenbachia is a bit extra droopy. I do think there was a bit too much dry heat in my house today, but even then, she normally doesn’t get this way. She’s “newer”. I have waited until she is dry to water and she’s still a little damp. The stems and leaves have the soft give (that I think is normal for this plant). I gave a little humidity when I got home… any tips? Does she look normal or just a bit tired 😂
Does anyone have any tips for how to get water spots off leaves? I recently got a new Calathea and I tried rinsing the leaves but the spots won’t quite wash off.
Got this gal today, went to repot her and noticed that she was overgrown…had to cut her out and she lost some roots. Will she be okay?
Hi guys Just got this calthea from Lowe’s and I want to revive it. How can I tell if the roots are bad? I’m a new plant mom.
Random thought… Anybody ever let their plants listen to music? What effects does it have (that you have noticed)?
Question for premium planta users: when the app says add liquid fertilizer, are they counting this as a “water” task also. I know I should be fertilizing, and I will, but if I skip this am I missing a watering schedule?
Can anyone tell me what plant this is ?
