My cherry blossom bonsai tree just sprouted a few weeks ago, I’m wondering when should I start using fertilizer and what kind. Any recommendations would be helpful thanks!

Is it just me, or does buying a new plant have a positive effect on your mood? Or even just looking at your plants can put you in a good mood? 🌱🪴❤️

I have to cut this section off the plant in order to round it off. Does anyone know the best way to propagate it to make another plant or two?

We continue with the Myths! Next up: 🧴 Myth: Vinegar – a Natural Cure-All for Plants Using vinegar as a "natural" remedy for everything from pests to fungal infections has become a popular trick in social media and DIY gardening circles. The idea is appealing: vinegar is cheap, eco-friendly, and already in your kitchen. But the truth is, this so-called miracle solution often does more harm than good. ⚠️ What Vinegar Actually Is Household vinegar – especially white distilled vinegar – contains acetic acid, typically between 5–7% concentration. It’s a strong acid with antibacterial and antifungal properties, but that doesn’t mean it’s safe for your plants. Vinegar is not a gentle extract. It’s corrosive. When applied to plants, it can burn leaves, roots, and stems, damaging living tissue. It doesn’t distinguish between “bad” and “good” – it affects everything it touches. 💥 Common Myths About Vinegar in Plant Care 1. “Vinegar kills pests” Myth: A vinegar-water spray will get rid of aphids, spider mites, or thrips. Truth: Vinegar might irritate some pests, but it often harms the plant just as much – or more. The leaf surface can burn, especially in sunlight, and you'll be left with acid damage and stressed foliage. 2. “Vinegar cures mold and fungus” Myth: Spraying vinegar on the soil or leaves will treat mold, root rot, or powdery mildew. Truth: Vinegar may slightly alter the pH and temporarily slow surface growth, but it does not cure fungal infections. Worse, it can disturb the soil’s microbial balance and damage root systems. 3. “Vinegar is a natural weed killer – safe and effective!” Half-truth: Yes, vinegar can kill weeds – but only the parts above ground. It won’t kill the roots and is not selective – it can also harm your ornamental plants, grass, or herbs if sprayed carelessly. ✅ When Vinegar Can Be Useful * Cleaning pots: Vinegar is great for removing mineral deposits and disinfecting used pots before replanting. * Lowering water pH – with caution: If your tap water is very alkaline and you're growing acid-loving plants (like blueberries or azaleas), a tiny amount of vinegar in your watering can may help – but only if you monitor the pH carefully. * Weed control in hardscape areas: On gravel paths or between patio stones where no plants should grow, vinegar may work as a short-term fix – just don’t overdo it. 🌱 Bottom Line: Vinegar Isn’t Plant Medicine Vinegar is not a natural substitute for proper plant care or disease control. It’s a household acid that can be used to clean, not to treat. If you’re dealing with pests or disease, try proven methods like: * Neem oil, insecticidal soap, or biological controls. * Pruning and disposing of affected plant parts. * Improving air circulation and watering habits.

Help! I gave my aunt one of my peace lily and she had gnats. I told her mix a table spoon of lavender and a qt. Of water to mist the plant and that might help BUT she actually drenched the plant in water and lavender and you can smell it in the dirt. Is there anything I can do to save her plant?? She is dropping so badly

Can you grow seeds in plastic containers or do they have to be in glass jars? I’m new to gardening, any tips are helpful! 😊

In a shocking turn of events, my Dieffenbachia Amy decided to flower! I didn’t even know that Dieffenbachias flowered! While the internet says their flowers aren’t much to look at, I think it’s gorgeous. Smells a little odd - kind of spicy. A bit minty, a bit cinnamon-y and a bit some other spicy. 😆

I really wanna get a rose grape flower, and I would love some advice!! I read here on planta that its sensitive to lime in the water, does that mean it’s sensitive to tap water? Also, is it generally tough to care for indoors? (random pic from google for reference)

Update on AloeBoi: Y’all were so helpful last week, that I wanted to double check with you. AloeBoi is repotted in the next size pot up with succulent soil. I fed him today (his normal feeding day), and just misted him and his soil since he still seems to be saying “no more water, please!” Planta’s schedule has him due for water in 5 days… go ahead, or give him a full week? (His last watering was pouring rain shower on 14May.)
