Hello Yall! I haven’t posted or been on this app in a while but to be fair, where I live seasonal depression is common for everyone. Anyway 🥲, I bought my baby monstera a month or so ago and didn’t know what it was but expected for it to be a monstera. I let her get used to my environment and even posted about her here for an identification and some tips! Problem: I used some seed starter soil today to transplant her to a bigger plant, and then hours later realized it was a dumb idea. I will be looking for coco coir and stuff and transplant her before her next watering. Any tips or tricks?? I’m thinking she can be a crawler for now. I need her to stay small for a little so I can prepare to move and stuff within the year. Thank yall in advance!

PSA to all plant parents, but mostly the beginners: YOU DO NOT NEED TO FOLLOW PLANTA’S WATERING SCHEDULE 😭😭😭 ALWAYS CHECK YOUR PLANTS FIRST TO SEE IF THEY’RE STILL MOIST/DAMP 💦 In most cases you should not follow it, but instead just use it as a reminder to check on your plants to see if they’re thirsty. I keep seeing people not know that they’re overwatering their plants because they’re following the schedule even though their plants are still wet. And I understand, it literally tells you to do it…but don’t. Every plant is different. Some like to be damp most of the time, some like to almost dry out, some like to completely dry out, etc. Also your home environment and substrate can cause your plant to dry out slower or faster than others. I wish it was as simple as following an app’s schedule, but in *most* cases it is not. Sincerely, A concerned plant friend that doesn’t want your plants to get root rot 👍🏼

Omg I got my first potho thanks to my sister I love it!! I haven’t watered her yet that’s because when I pulled the plastic paper thingy off her that they wrap around the plants to sell the bottom of her pot seemed wet. So I’m wait few days to before I try to water her.

****[TLDR: What ratio/mix do you recommend for african violet based off of what I have? (Moss, Perlite, Bark, & Potting Mix)] Hey! I’m repotting my plants from nursery pots & want to make best ratios for them. For African Violets it says ratio of 1:1:1 using: -Sphagnum peat moss/coco noir -Perlite -Vermiculite. The problem is that I can’t spend anymore $ rn. This is what I have: -Potting Mix (Miracle Grow) -Sphagnum Moss (does NOT say peat…) -Repti Bark -Perlite 1. Is it imperative to buy vermiculite? 2. Can I just use potting mix since it has vermiculite in it? 3. Is sphagmum peat moss different than regular S.moss? 4. Is coco noir better than S.moss or a necessity in mixing soils? 5. What ratio/mix do you recommend for african violet based off of what I have? 6. *Bonus Question LOL: Best way to prop African Violet? In soil? Moss? Bark? Water?stem with leaf or half leaf? Do you let it harden off first? Do you mist it? Put it in a covered container until it roots for the humidity? What’s your successful method?

saw this Monstera Thai in Walmart for $29.97 but one of the larger leaves were majorly ripped. it also looked a little thirsty - wasn’t sure if it was suitable for outdoors because I have 3 cats so I prefer outdoor gardening. did I miss out on this steal?

I need to report the aloe plant, but I just noticed this new little baby next to it! How do I report it? Do I repot them both in the same pot or keep the little one in a separate one??

I’ve been trying to start my own batch of snapdragons and phloxs. I’m pretty new at the whole thing, so I’m wondering why my seeds haven’t started germinating yet. I have a plant warmer and plant food. Any suggestions on how to get them to grow?

been keeping my Maranta leuconeura lemon lime in the bathroom with a south window for a couple months now. There’s nothing wrong with her at all and she’s always putting out new growth. However, I am thinking about putting her in a self watering wick system pot. Anything to add? (leaf I am holding got chewed by my cat)
