Iāve never grown watermelon to this stage..is this considered flowering?, and what do I do for them next? š©desperate not to kill them this time..,help!!

NikillerThatās not the flowers, youāll know a flower when you see it. Thatās just a new junction growing on that vine.

Should I lye them down and cover with more soil like potatoes

Nope, they want to find something to climb up or crawl across to maximize its surface area. Youāll probably see leaves and then some small prehensile vines all come from that node as the main vine continues growing that direction. You can tie them to a trellis or just let them take over the ground wherever theyāre planted. I havenāt quite gotten to the fruit production stage for my gourds (same as melons and cucumbers) so Iām not sure if my pollination attempt did anything yet.
