My plant app is telling me to fertilize a few of my plants, but water different ones. I have gotten some liquid fertilizer that I assumed would put in when I watered.. this may be a silly question, but how to I fertilize without watering?

    Planta recommends to water with fertilizer every few waterings. What I do, is dilute the my fertilizer about 2 tsp (SuperThrive Foliage Pro) in a gallon of water.

      Ahhh so it’s telling me to actually water all of these, but add just add fertilizer to the bottom ones.

    You’re “watering” both categories. The fertilizer needs to be diluted in the water for that category. Instructions on the package for dilution. Don’t apply concentrated liquid fertilizer to plants since it usually burns them.

    I was getting confused with the watering & fertiliser schedule as I often found I was watering them being advised to fertilise too soon. As now clarified to you, good also watering at the same time because it’s diluted into water. However. I’ve taken to using a weaker mix of fertiliser with every watering & only water (with the much weaker mix of fertiliser already diluted down to 1/4 strength) only when the plant actually needs to be watered. To assess that, when the water suggestion pops up, I check the potting mix with a thin wooden kebab skewer & kind of think about the way you do when checking a cake before taking it out of the oven. How much moisture/soil remains on the skewer when you ‘stab’ the potting mix right down to the bottom of the pot. All that said, I try to consider the water requirement for each plant while doing my kebab skewer test. Is it a plant that likes consistent moisture or one that likes to fully dry out between watering. Hope that makes sense. It makes sense in my head but I’m not sure I actually explained it all that clearly sorry
