Pot size question: I have a rubber plant and a philodendron lemon lime that both need a larger pot. Theyâre currently in 5â pots (measured across the top). My question is should I upgrade them to a 6â pot or an 8â pot each?

Iâm not an expert but I think usually the recommendation is 1-2â more in diameter. I would look at the root system! If theyâre super root bound, maybe up them straight to 8. If not, then maybe 6 is fine, you may just have to repot again sooner. đ
1 gillaThe Phil is root bound but havent checked the rubber plant yet. I just donât want to size up too big especially as that can cause worse issues as I understand it.
0 gillningarYeah, I totally get it! Do they make 7â pots? I donât even know, maybe that would be the sweet spot?
0 gillningarThey donât at Loweâs! Thatâs the problem lol. Just 6 and 8âs.
0 gillningarDefinitely the 6! The rubber tree will be a bit more forgiving to a too big pot than the philodendron
1 gillaI went with a 6!
0 gillningarThe rubber tree will be able to grow into the larger pot. It can get really tall.
