Need some advice this is my first plant like this it it seemed like it wasnāt getting enough light upstairs where I had it I brought it outside for an hour or so and now it looks like itās dying. I did add that stick today at the bottom to try and get that leaf to go up more idk if that has something to do with it. Any advice is greatly appreciated š

It looks like sunburn and if itās dropping a lot after being outside itās probably thirsty I agree you should be using distilled water
0 gillningarTry a jug of distilled water next time, it might not enjoy the additives in your plumbing water supply. I had a problem with brown edges and drooping leaves which went away with better hydration. Hope it helps.
0 gillningar Thanks you sm I will go get some distilled water hopefully that helps. I was also thinking about trying to find a tall grow light. I just donāt think itās getting enough white as well where I have it in my room.

If itās not getting enough light, itās possible itās staying too wet for too long and slowly suffocating the roots. Get a plant light, switch to distilled and make sure there is ample aeration in the soil, even if just breaking it up a little with a chopstick to make sure the roots get enough oxygen.

0 gillningarI have a lot of experience with alocasia/calocasia and Iām gonna disagree with a lot of the advice on here. Distilled water does not matter for this plant. Perhaps Iāve just lived in lucky places, but Iāve never observed it to matter. Consistent watering absolutely matters and can be difficult to master with these. Alocasia/calocasia plants grow fast, and benefit from 1/4 to 1/2 strength soluble fertilizer every time you water. Most likely this plant isnāt getting enough fertilizer AND they really need consistently moist soil, which can be a hard concept to grasp at first. You want to let it dry out between watering, but not bone dry. They are highly susceptible to root rot though, so Iād say you definitely want to change the soil out for something chunky or semi-hydro like PON or Sphagnum moss. Iāve found that these plants love a selfwatering pot once they adapt to it. It would definitely benefit from supplemental lighting as well
0 gillningarCould you send a picture focused on one of your yellowing leaves, please? These plants are also susceptible to spider mites and I can probably diagnose it that way if theyāre present
