Hello! I planted 2 hostas in my front garden about a month or so ago and they’re both doing great but now they’re both sprouting what looks like flowers? I didn’t realize they did this but should I cut these off? These are baby plants and I’m in the middle of the Midwest.

Hostas do flower quite often as long as they are happy and have the right amount of water and light, they should be fine but a lot of people cut them off because the flowers aren’t the prettiest. I can’t vouch for the size being okay but I don’t think you need to worry too much!

I let mine flower all season. I think the flowers are lovely. Light lavendar in color and dainty. But i cut the stalks once they start to fade. Hostas are so hardy, you can leave tje flower stalks without it hurting the growth in my experience. Im also in midwest.

Thank you all! I think I’ll let them flower and cut when they fade, I don’t think we will be in this house this time next year and I want to see the flowers đŸ„°

One of my hostas is blooming big right now. Here's what it'll look like as it opens (most are white with a slight purple tone. Some are a stronger light purple.) If you like the flowers and want to add a good purple variety, hosta "wrinkle in time" has good color

I LOVE the way that looks! How gorgeous!! I’ll have to check out the wrinkle in time! I’ve been considering adding a couple astilbe for color as well
