Itās way too hard for me to put my plants into a top 3, so Iām just gonna share a few of my favorites. These two are jades. The first I got from Ottās Exotic Plants, which is a gorgeous plant nursery in my area that I highly recommend checking out. I named her Elena in honor of my abuela. Her 60+ year-old jade is still kicking, and Iāve got a cutting of that jade thatās turning 30 this year that she gifted my mother when she bought her first home. Sheās the one that started my love of houseplants, and Iāll always remember her singing to the birds in our garden, so I like having a little piece of her in our new home. The second is a variegated jade I bought off Etsy. She was a bit of a horror story. Opened the box she came in, unwrapped her, and a bunch of earwigs came crawling out š± Nearly dropped her in shock. She was pretty withered from the travel, and I was terrified that there were earwigs in my house or hiding in my garden from unboxing it. Iām very thankful that I never spotted any others after that day š®āšØ She perked back up after one watering and sheās been great since. Her nameās Bianca.
3 gillningarThe other 2 Iāll share (and yes, Iām adding 4 here, cause I canāt pick just 3 š) are my watermelon peperomia, Wanda, and my Sweet and Sour Variegated Peperomia Obtusifolia, Penny. Wanda is technically my dadās. She was a Fatherās Day gift to him, but I take care of her for him. Sheās from Etsy. Penny was the first houseplant I ever bought for myself and might be the one most special to me, aside from 30 year old jade I take care of for my mom. Sheās grown like a weed since the day I bought her, she was $7 at the County Line Nursery, and I swear sheās got a new set of leaves in the works every 2 weeks. I donāt even fertilize her. Sheās just a little nut. The first photo of her is the most recent and the second is after having her for about a month. She lived in a weirdly tall pot in the shape of a Solo cup when I bought her. Sheās been this giant peperomia in my windowsill since I got her out of that weird little cup she was crammed into ever since.
2 gillningarYour plants are gorgeous. Do you remember the seller name on Etsy where you got Wanda? Sheās a lovely plant.
2 gillningarOhhh I really like the one that you was holding outside thatās super cute I love it I want it I need a link to get it š
1 gillaI canāt attach a link, sadly, but hereās a screenshot that gives the sellerās name. I got mine on sale, but if youāre willing to pay $20 for it, it was in great shape despite the long trip through the mail. Be prepared for the possibility that some of the leaves might be damaged from the trip, though.
0 gillningarThe neon pothos was gifted to me when my mom passed last year. It was my first plant, and what got me into this crazy houseplant life. She was 1/4 the size and gave me the confidence that I could keep green things alive. The Chinese money plant had 2 leaves when given to me. Since this picture, she has given me 4 more leaves, so I have officially declared her returned from the dead. And the pink princess is just so darned cool.
2 gillningarFirst is āPapa Vineā. My daughter and I got a single pothos cutting at the 4H tent at a town festival 4 years ago. Cuttings from this one original vine have created over a dozen planters of pothos around our house and gifts for others. He also triggered my love for house plants and propagation watching him grow all these years. 2. My monstera propogation. I cut him off a plant in my office and carried him home on the subway. Got LOTS of look LOL 3. Janet and my Janet Babies - my Dracaena Janet Craig was a gift from my mother in law. Itās the first large and questionable propogation I did. Takes a lot more effort and patience than a pothos but seeing Janet and her cuttings thrive has been so cool!

Okay, top 3! 1) hibiscus cooperi, because I love variegation and this alleged hothouse flower survived a week in single-digit temps when the post office lost it on the way to my new place! 2) false aralia "Gold Coast"--literally the same. Love the variegation and the leaf shape and survived the Big Freeze. 3) cymbidium sinense - the new red shoots on this are crazy. Maybe one day it will bloom but not sure if I care!
0 gillningarMy top 3 change frequently. I have 2 orchids that I got from grandmotherās house when she passed away. And those I baby with kid gloves but they arenāt flowering right now. And while Iāve had orchids for years, Iāve only recently branched into houseplants. So as of this moment, my 3 faves are my Hoya compacta baby that I found at a random nursery in someoneās backyard for $5, my Hoya Krimson Queen Tricolor that I gifted myself after a particularly hard day, and my orchid cactus that I also found at that same nursery in the side of the road for $7.
0 gillningarMy favorite plant in my collection is my rattlesnake calathea. When I first started getting into plants, the pictures always caught my attention when I saw them online. Shortly after, I saw them at Home Depot and it was love at first sight; I had to have it. It was my first calathea and only my second plant in my collection. It has more than doubled in size from when I got it about 1.5 years ago
0 gillningarThey sell plants at Home D?! Iām going have to as this to my collection!!
1 gillaThey do; I've gotten a lot of my plants there. Give them a good look over before bringing them home though. Many people will say they are infested with pests; I personally just give them a good shower and spray them down with Bioadvanced 3 in 1; I've never had an issue.
