Guys what am I missing here that would be causing the spots? All my healthy growth eventually trends in that direction. It isn’t waterlogged, has no identifiable pests that I can see, keeps growing steadily (so I’m not seeing stress in stunted growth), and is under a grow light. Is it that the grow light is too strong?

It could be that the grow light is too strong or it’s getting too much light in general, this plant is pretty tolerable to low to medium light so I wonder if it got a lil sunburnt

Maybe I’ll tweak the strength of the light and see if that helps (my kids regularly turn this one off so it resets every time đŸ€ŠđŸŒâ€â™€ïž).

How close is the grow light? Unless it’s less than six inches away, it is very unlikely that it is sunburned.

Probably 8in away, so it’s not directly on top of it.

It looks like Spider mites to me. They have been driving me crazy lately so I sprayed peppermint soap with water on the leaves and then added some systemic granules, Bonide is my go to brand

Unfortunately I’ve kept a close eye on it for weeks and I really haven’t identified any pest issues. :/ The spider mites got to my Calathea though 🙄

They love my prayer plants! They also got one of my cactus plants and that surprised me. The only way to tell was how yellow it was. I can’t see anything that small so I watch the leaves and clean them all the time â˜č

So I have the same plant that went through similar problems - and let me tell you what it was! After trying everything I eventually decided to repot it, and I noticed it had one of those death wrap meshes around the roots. I ended up taking it off, but the plant has suffered to bounce back. I just checked on it this morning and it’s starting to grow back! I really couldn’t figure out why my plant was not thriving and that’s what it was. It might not be your problem but it’s just a suggestion.

The sack of death 😭 I checked and its roots are actually just fine, very free of any obstacles, though they aren’t substantial. Your message reminded me though to check my daughter’s Venus fly trap that my parents got her (it’s been struggling for agessss). And it was choked by that sack! đŸ«  Hopefully it’ll love life now.
