This little guy is doing great has new leaves about to open and now one of the bottom leaves is turning yellow. Any suggestions to why. I have it under a grow light for 12 hours a day and I check the soil with a stick so I know it's not over or under watered. Please help. 🙂

Humidity maybe? I can't really relate to humidity issues because down in Florida it's constantly above 80% over here, but the brown chips tell me it might be related to water or humidity. Calatheas and marantha do not like to be high and dry lol

I do have a humidifier but I just found out that I need to leave it on a lot longer then I have been. Lol

It might just old. Not all leaves last a long time. Not sure of the type of plant it is. Not all leaf drop is a sign of illness

It is most likely an older leaf. I have a prayer plant and every winter around January I end up trimming all of the leaves off to nothing and it has always come back beautifully. Your plant looks pretty good I wouldn't be that drastic unless the leaves start to look ugly. This year mine is looking a little weak but I think maybe the plant is just getting old it's been like 15 years.

Wow that's a great life for your plant. Most of mine are under 5 except one a friend gave me and it's a hoya over 40 years old.

The first time I cut my prayer plant back to nothing I was very nervous. All the leaves were getting yellow and brown and curling on the edges it was just ugly. I did the trimming in stages because I was afraid it would die but as I trimmed leaves off I could see the new ones coming up underneath. Some places don't recommend such a drastic cut back but rather trimming leaves and cutting stems back a little bit but I have not found that cutting it all the way back was harmful.
