Don’t know what is going on with my jade. Leaves are falling off. The leaves have a weird texture. Am I going to lose it or is it salvageable.

I have an ancient Jade (50+ years old) and a few cuttings from it that are doing well. What kind of watering schedule have you been giving that one?

1 gillaCheck the root ball it might need repotting or the roots might be rotten you’ll smell musty damp if they are. To me it looks like lack of water and maybe too sunny where it lives
0 gillningarYou also might want to water it with distilled water. The minerals in regular tap water build up in the plant and cause the leaves to become scaly like in the picture as the plant tries to remove the excess. Once you start doing that, the new leaves won’t have scales anymore
0 gillningarDistilled is the only water I give it. I water it weekly. Though maybe it has scales or something.
0 gillningarIf in doubt with succulents, propagate a cutting as a backup
0 gillningarWeekly watering is way too much. You should be watering at most like every 3 weeks. I don't usually water mine more than once a month, I usually tell by when the leaves start getting a little slim and bendy (not plump and stiff)
1 gillaI agree. I only water my Jades when they completely dry out between waterings. They store water in their leaves and don’t need to be watered that often. They will actually give you a sign when they need watering. The leaves wrinkle.
