you can definitely just trim the leaves instead of using the whole thing. i'd give it 2inches per cutting.
4 gillningarPerfect thank you, and they will do okay just in water to begin with?
1 gillaYes water until you see roots. I warn you they are very slow to propagate.
4 gillningarI have not tried this, theoretically you could take one large leaf cutting, separate into 2” pieces, and prop them all. Make sure to let the cut callus over before you put in water or soil.
2 gillningarPerfect, thank you
1 gillaSnake plant varieties are my favorite; there’s so many!
1 gillaI like them too and they are so low maintenance. Out of interest, what kind of soil do you use for your snake plants?
1 gillaSorry it took me a while to see this. I swear by a premium potting mix called Ivy May. Ivy May DuNEs is what I use for my cacti and succulents. When I’ve struggled with gnats, they leave the plants potted in Ivy May alone. It has these little balls of peppermint essential oil that deter pests and smell amazing. I believe it is redwood bark based. I have also used and like Ivy May for aroids, but Dunes is the real winner as far as I’m concerned. Don’t have a heart attack, it’s $20 for 4qt. It is available online from the manufacturer in bigger bags which is more cost effective, but then you get nailed with the shipping cost 😖.
