Do you guys think this is enough light for a Jade Bonsai? The window is exactly North facing and gets good light all day, no shade. But the light is more indirect and not straight on from the sun. (It’s also near the end of the day, so it does get a good bit brighter.) I’m new to bonsai so any advice helps! 😄

RRoots, I live in an apartment with all windows facing north, so I am in the same shoe. And... I don't think this is enough light for your Jade. 🥲🥲🥲🥲 I do have some plants in front of my north facing windows but I leave my blinds open all day until it gets dark(lol to privacy) so maybe try that? The plants do live and grow there but they do not thrive. 😂 also you can always look into a small grow lights on amazon as well... oh the pain of north facing windows. I ended up getting many different grow lights. 😩😩😩 For now I'd open the blinds and wait and see how the plant does. If it shows any signs of deprivation.... move on to plan B!

Thank you for the reply! I saw on a website that south might be ok, so I figured north would be the same. 🤷‍♀️ I am in GA, so I get it gets really hot in direct light so I’m also worried it’ll burn 😭 I’ll probably move it though bc it’s a desert plant

Ooh I see. I live in NY so I can see how it's different for you. 😉 I hope you can find a good spot for your Jade plant, because she looks ✨gorgeous ✨

Mine only does well in full sun. It gets direct, all day sun!

I have a jade plant (to clarify, it’s a common misconception that Elephant bush is a “mini jade”, but they’re a different species that act similarly and are from the same place as jades.) Mine is in the south windowsill. It can survive in a north window but that’s the window that gets the least amount of sun, and it could easily start to wilt or really reduce how much it grows. If you’re worried about burning, I’d definitely suggest putting it near a south window rather than in the windowsill of a south window, or in the windowsill of an east or west window if you have them.

Also, as a pro tip, rotate it a bit when you put it back after watering it. That way the elephant bush grows more evenly on all sides.
