hi!! my neon pothos plant wasn’t doing too well recently so i took some trimmings and put them in water to propagate. they perked right back up however in the past couple days the leaves have started to develop black spots! i’ve never had this issue before, any ideas on how to save/fix this?

All of my pothos have done this over the winter, nearly every year too. Part of me wonders if it’s a winter combination of humidity/light/temp problems

If only the cuttings are showing the spots it could be some leaves dying off due to lack of roots to support those long vines. Try cutting the vines into lengths containing one or two nodes each. Remove excess leaves that drain energy and those that will be below water to prevent rot. Clean the water once per week or sooner if it’s cloudy/green. Another small possibility could be the chemicals in the water (chlorine, hard water deposits) are affecting them. The cuttings are in water full time. It’s a stretch. But, some plants are sensitive.

Were the scissors you used to cut the roots sterile?

truthfully my guess is the same as above, that the vines are too long so theyre sacrificing the leaves. id def try splitting them into smaller sections and see how that works for you!
