Hi! My mom planted hostas in her garden, but unfortunately they have been eaten by deer. Does anyone know any good deer repellents that will not harm the plants? Iām open to other suggestions also.

My parents put chicken wire around their hosta and day lily garden. Not very pretty to look at though. I donāt think theyāve tried any repellents for some reason. But the common one at my local garden center is Bonide āGo Away.ā And the outdoor sporting goods stores have coyote urine, but buyer beware on the smell of that one wheweeee š¤¢š

1 gillaI would suggest planting deer resistant plants around the hostas as a way of naturally keeping them away. I found it works for my garden!

this is a great tip. my dad has a vegetable garden thatās a bit more than half an acre, and thereās always a border of squash and other gourds to keep the deer out of the tender leafed vegetables. itās been working well for him the past 10 years in combination with a 6ft chain link fence. (easily jump-able for a deer but they usually donāt want to land in a pumpkin patch lol)

Ohhhhh! š® You two are clever! Iāll have to pass that one on to my folks for their shade gardens and vegetable field
1 gillaIrish Spring soap works. You have to reapply after it rains.
