A large piece of my tradescantia spathecea (Moses in the cradle plant) broke off while I was repotting it. It’s bigger than the plant that’s left so I really want to save it! Should I root it in water or just pop it back in the soil ( I am actually using pon not soil). Any thoughts?

I have personally never had luck propagating tradescantia in soil (never tried pon) I always propagate in soil and they root pretty quickly!! I would peel off a couple bottom leaves and put in water with some rooting hormone and I bet they start growing roots in no time

Never used rooting hormone and I’ve always had success in just water. Good luck!

I’ve had the exact same thing happen and stuck it back in the pot and it did great. Since then I started air layering to get a fuller pot. 💚💚
