Have tried to use Dr Planta to diagnose this but Iā€™m not sure Iā€™m getting the right answers. I only got this little one recently but itā€™s lost about 40% of its leaves, all from around the bottom - first it was too dry and the leaves wilted, now it seems too wet as the leaves are breaking at mushy bits at the base and top of the stem. Still looks ok from the top but the leaves are dropping pretty quickly. Looks like it might be in normal potting mix - should I change that? Or maybe put something on the top of the soil to stop the stems sitting on damp soil? Thanks!

    Check the roots for rot for sure and definitely upgrade to a chunky soil mix

    Peperomias are more like succulents and you might be over watering her. Check for root rot, upgrade to a chunky mix and see what that gets ya.

    Could also be starving for air. I would switch to a shallow terracotta pot for breathability and poke some holes in the soil. Says itā€™s a rainforest plant and loves humidity. A humidifier will probably help with the leaves

      Interesting - I hadnā€™t thought the plastic might be suffocating. Will try that too.

    I also wanted to recommend a chunky soil mix. All my plants were dying in the beginning and I couldnā€™t figure out why because I used top of the line potting soil and did everything that was recommendedā€¦ I spared no expense and they kept dying. I learned pretty quickly that they have to have chunky potting soil so they dry it out more quickly and the roots donā€™t get smothered or rotten. A good recipe is 50% potting soil. And then about 25% or more perlite plus 20% orchid bark, and maybe a little bit of plant charcoal-5%. I also have moisture indicator sticks in all of my plants, but when they turn white, I use my finger to make sure they are dry on top. I use fertilizer every other time I water. I do not follow this apps instructions about when to water or fertilize! Good luck šŸ€
