Thread time! Show your favorite plant (or one of your favorites), then show your problem child 👀 I’ll start! I’ve got a 3-way tie for favorites between my marbled Peperomia Obtusifolia, Sunny, my jade, Elena, and my variegated jade, Valerie. As for problem children…my dearest Hosta, George. Tossed out of the pot and reduced to his roots by hurricane strength winds, caught a case of anthracnose before I bought him, and came back from root rot from being potted in miracle grow 😤 he was a tough lil guy, but he didn’t survive being brought in to save him from a heatwave. RIP George, you’re in a place free of spray painted cacti now.

Those are beautiful. How do you care for your Jade plant?

Thank you! Jades are my favorite, so I’ve learned a few tricks for them over the years. I bottom water them, have them all in my south windowsills, and they’re all potted in Espoma’s Organic Cactus and Succulent Mix.

My peperomia greyhound is definitely one of my favorites. I love the texture of the leaves, and it’s giving me flowers right now!

As for my problem children, I have quite a few, but I think my biggest is my alpinia variegata, which is drooping, yellowing and crisping after only being here for a couple weeks.

Ooh! What a lovely peperomia caperata! I’ve been trying to find a good burbella for my collection 👀 and good luck to your variegated alpina! sometimes the variegated versions of plants can be more troublesome than their predecessors.

A schrijveriana! Been looking for one of those! What a cutie 🥰 I’ve got a ficus elastica Belize that I rescued from a pet store. Sorry to hear about the snake plants, though. Have you ruled out soil and lighting as a cause? 🤔 I wanted to make this thread to show that even folks with the greenest thumbs have problems with their plants, so don’t feel discouraged if one of them is a little rebellious 😉 (and sometimes the allegedly “easiest” plants we get give us the most grief)

My problems children are all my snake plants. They keep losing leaves and I cannot figure out why. They are not overwatered, and I don’t think they are underwatered either. I am afraid of watering them now, as I don’t know what I am doing wrong! They keep losing leaves, but they also keep having babies, so I have no clue!🕵️

How's your light situation? I've found that snakes really do their best in full sun (or under a grow light that mimics it). If they don't get enough sunlight, their leaves will weaken and fall off

I also have a 3 way tie for favorites. Marble queen pothos (Saccharina), dieffenbachia camille (Cami), and dieffenbachia compacta (Zelda). They're totally babied and on the top shelf in the plant cabinet so I can clearly see them from the couch

They’re all beautiful! 😊 love the names. I’ve got all my jade plants in the south windowsill that faces the front of my house so everyone can see them when they come in 👀

Problem child is for sure Edward, my Parlor palm. He's constantly turning brown and losing leaves. Cannot seem to get the humidity right for him to truly thrive.

Aww. Hope he finds a sweet spot for you eventually. It kinda looks like he’s leaning to wave from behind your other plants! 😊
