Question about species of plant. I bought it at Home Depot under the tag āassorted tropicalā at first I assumed it was a philodendron cherry red. As all new leaves were bright red and older were green. Then the red turned burgundy, so I thought it was sun red. Then they turned basically black so maybe black cardinal??! I really need help.
hmm.. after tremendous research, I have decided that this is a red plant! Like not this red-ā„ļø but THIS red- ā¤ļø. Also I think itās HALLOWEEEEEEENNNB
5 gillningarMaybe Congo rojo?
2 gillningarI think Congo rojo is a good possibility. It could also be black cardinal which has darker leaves than the Congo rojo.
2 gillningarIāve sorta ruled out rojo Congo as it doesnāt have the same leaf shape or stem shape. Also the transition from the red to almost blackish brown took around 2-3 months whereas the rojo Congo takes much shorter usually.I appreciate the suggestion though!

Royal Queen, Bloody Mary or Imperial Red
1 gillaI also put a picture of what the plants new red leaves look like before they turn dark!
1 gillaI should also provide a picture of the plants fresh red leaves.
What about the petioles? Can you show a pic of them close up?

How about Red Sun. What do you think of that?
0 gillningarI noticed the red from the sun red philodendron is a lot more warm/oranigish, whereas this one has kinda all been more ruby/purplish
