im pretty new to owning houseplants but i do have quite a few. i was gifted watering globes for my birthday and i was wondering if i should actually use them? im scared of them overwatering and causing root rot. are there any plants i can use them on that i wouldnt have to worry about?

How did you get your pothos roots to grow so thick? I have some propagating now for about 2 months and they’re thin and long as heck

Dunno, I always make sure there are 3-4 nodes and at least 3 leaves. I put them in glass or jar with water and they grow like crazy.

I think if you just don’t keep topping them off everyday and let them run out of water that you should be fine. They’re usually pretty in the plants even if there’s no water in them. If you put a bamboo skewer in your plants (I have them in all my plants) you can pull it out to see how damp the soil is. You just don’t want your soil to stay soaked for most plants. Most Ferns and calatheas like to be kept quite moist so those would definitely be safe to use them in without too much worry of overwatering. And they’re nice because the top of the soil can stay dry and keep fungus gnat eggs from hatching.

hey. As a person who likes to torture her plants by keeping them in the same glass (swamp) for 2+ years. Here are the pro tips for propagation . Not from Google, not from some person on YouTube. Just me and you friend 😂😂🪴🪴 first things first, when you make your cut…Don’t put it in water immediately because then it’s going to rot and you’ll lose the cut. Let it dry for a bit. next, if you want to be really extra, put some rooting hormone on the area where the roots should grow. Finally, as your propagation grows, get some slow release fertilizer pellets . They changed my life. Plants that stopped growing in those silly glasses for a year started growing immediately once I popped those in. 🪴🪴🪴😊🪴

sorry, if you can use those watering globes as propagation vessels, which I suggest

I just bought two of these and honestly I don’t think they work ( or I might not using it right?) the one I put in my fern is not releasing water at all; the one I put in my hydrangea pot released its water in a few hours and I feel that too fast. Conclusion for me is that they look pretty but dose not work easily for the designed purpose

I actually have one I am using for my moss poles. They seem to work pretty well for keeping those moist

I’d use them on your plants that tend to dry out faster. This all depends on the type of plant, soil medium, pot size, ect. But I’m sure you’ve noticed yourself what plants need more frequent watering, so I’d add them to those.
