Hi i need some advice. I've moved into a house (uk) and i keep getting mold on top of my soil a day or two after i water. The inside humidity is between 60% to 80% and we try and keep the house temperature at 18°c or above. I'm not sure how i can fully manage this situation without blasting my heating all day and becoming bankrupt. Ive been watering my plants around very 2 weeks ( plant dependant) since its been colder and letting them become quite dry but im also concerned about giving them dry rot (which i have done before) (Also I've invested in some grow lights but unsure if this will help) Any suggestions how I can deal with this?

You can try using a dehumidifier to keep the humidity in the 40% to 60% range. I grew up in a big family in a small house. Steam from multiple daily showers, cooking and cleaning would produce a lot of humidity and moisture on the windows leading to mold/rot of the windows and mold on the walls. The mold would trigger asthma attacks. So, the dehumidifier was mandatory for us. You can also change out the soil if most of the pots are growing mold. Soil replacement with newly purchased soil can help get rid of the mold spores in the current batch of soil. The cheaper alternative is using a commercial fungicide to spray on the soil. There are other DIY solutions online using home remedies. 🪴🍀
