So, someone asked if I use the “ice method” to water my Chinese Elm bonsai. Any explanation as to what/how that is? Mine seems very happy starting the growing season…just never heard of that way of watering.

I know for orchids some people sit an ice cube on the soil to slowly water them so maybe something like that? I don’t know much about bonsai though so not sure if that’s what they meant lol
1 gillaThat’s what I imagined as they said it…?
1 gillaYours looks amazing by the way! Bonsai are one of the plants I can never seem to keep alive lol
1 gillaThanks Elmer and I have just started our journey together…he’s a healthy 20 yr old tho, so hoping he works with me well!
1 gillaLooking good.
1 gillaBe wary though if you use ice cubs that the cold water of the cube can shock the plant as well if they’re not use to that temp/coldness
1 gillaThat’s what I was thinking…Elmer seems happy with my watering routine thus far.
