So uh… what do I do about these little gatecrashers? I don’t mind them being there if they’re harmless or helpful. If not, how do I remove them - are they poisonous? It’s a tradescantia pallida (or ‘purple heart’) :)

They are there because the soil is damp for some time and show your soil has good nutrients. You can leave them if that’s your preference but I’d just pluck them out gently as they’ll be taking the good stuff away from your plant.
1 gillaThe mushrooms will actually enrich the soil if you let them decay in it. As far as the fuzzy stuff around the plant I’ve never seen a Purple Heart do that. Is it normal? If it’s dust or pet furr I would recommend cleaning it off as it can prevent the plant from absorbing nutrients as well.
2 gillningarThank you, Josie. I decided to keep the mushrooms and they’ve already dried out and died (within a day of the photo!). The fuzzy fur type stuff is normal for this plant, although I appreciate other types of tradescantia don’t have fur. The yellowy dust on the edge of two leaves have come from the mushrooms hovering just above them - spores I guess. I did intend to wash that off, so thank you for the reminder :)
