Do I give up on my poinsettia?
Do I give up on my poinsettia?
I’d check the roots to see if it’s really long gone. If the roots are still healthy and the leaves only recently started falling, then depending on the climate where you live, this could just be the natural loss of leaves after the blooming season. Hope this helps.
0 gillningarIts leafs started to fall off in March, and in the end of April, I went to my local plant lady to ask if discoloration like the stem turning brown should be a concern. She said no, but recommended I chopped the stem down. It has looked like this pretty much ever since
0 gillningarOk. That sounds like its natural blooming season is over. I cut my great-aunt’s down for her and it’s working on growing its leaves back for the winter. This is what hers looks like after her haircut in December. You can cut the stems all the way down to the base of the plant if you’d like to tell the plant to start over and focus its energy on new growth.
0 gillningarI have cut a poinsettia back like this and it leafed out very nicely but the stems were green and not Browning. Personally I would give it up. Ugly is not something I have room for on my plant shelf and it would be difficult to get it to bloom again anyways.
