Hey friends! Does anyone have advice on moving with plants and on the best way to acclimate plants to a new location? I’m moving this weekend and very nervous to move my plants, especially since two of them were just given to me and already trying to adjust. I want to make it as easy on them (and especially me) as I can! Pic of my new Maranta for attention :)

Congratulations on your move! I recently moved from the Midwest to a high-desert environment. I am a brand-new plant person, and have very little idea of what I’m doing… The plants traveled in the car with me, and had to spend the night in the car. I watered them all well before I left, and checked on water levels again once I arrived. Since I now only have west-facing windows, none of my plants get full sun anymore. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, as the lack of humidity and brighter sun are going to take some time to adjust to. I have some plants outside, some inside, and I check on them all throughout the day as I unpack. So far, so good! In preparing for the move, I would move my plants every day or so to get them used to being under stress. I also would give them pep talks and encouragement - especially for their overnight in the car. I don’t really have any advice other than follow your gut and try your best!

Never new moving could harm plants. We just moved 3 hours north and it didn’t affect anything.
