I hesitate to ask this here (please donāt kick me out!), but have you ever regretted buying/acquiring a plant? And if so, what do you do? Grudgingly care for it? Gift it?

Yes! I always love them when I first get them but as I get new ones and my collection grows some of them do feel like a burden and they donāt bring me joy anymore!
5 gillningarOh donāt get me started. My friend asked me to save an aloe plant for her, and Iāve had a lot of luck with aloe so I accepted. It was already long gone, but I thought Iād still give it a try. After quarantining it for a little bit, I put it beside my enormous marble queen pothos. Well, of course there had to be mealybugs hidden in the aloe leaves and soil, and ONE of my marble queenās leaves was touching the aloe. Itās been months since my friend tasked me with saving her aloe, and now my marble queen is infested, my Jade pothos is infested, and the aloe is completely dead. I will regret the adoption of that plant until the day I die⦠the marble queen is my babyš¢

Oh no! Thatās so sad š Much worse than my petty dislike of a fern (which I have just moved to a different spot where it looks much better and Iām pleased with it again).

Aww I am so sorry. But itās not your friends fault, so donāt be sad! It happens sometimes.

Unfortunately yes. I bought a Rex begonia, and itās a lot more bratty than it should be. Itās growing just fine happy enough but because of its personality, I think itās less pretty

OMG!! Itās as if you read my mind I feel the same about this brat. I regret buying this plant! Such a moody little so and so ! Iām thinking of my next steps!! Sheās crispy one minute , upright and the next minute she droops. Iāve moved her to every facing corner of the house and Iām tired of her attitude š.

Best thing I can recommend is putting her in a bigger pot (because they droop and die hours after they get thirsty) and putting her in a humid place. They donāt like light in the same way flowering begonias do, and with the way sheās behaving she doesnāt get prime real estate anyway. But also, because begonias are annuals-ish, they die back when it cools off, so try to keep her in a warm place (like uncomfortable for inside but nice outside)

Try to gift it, sell it, or even trade it for another plant š
2 gillningarSo. Many. Times. I'll find a cool plant, check it out in Planta and online, think about where I will put it, make sure the care is easy enough to add to my collection--and then BAM! All my preparing is useless because I apparently have a knack for buying "easy" plants who decide to walk a fine line between life and death. I'm cursing and grumping at the drama queen and then she'll pop out one little leaf, like she knew I had my thumb hovering over the graveyard button. š And even though we don't get along, I feel like I can't let her win by allowing her to die. 𤣠So I continue this toxic relationship out of sheer spite. 𤣠The regret is real.
