Hey guys, i got this Alocasia Silver Dragon around two weeks ago and noticed it had this little thing in the soil. I haven’t touched it (hoping it will be another plant/leaf) but, im hoping someone on here can tell me what it is? Any advice/tips are greatly appreciated also, i wanna keep this baby aliveā˜ŗļø

It’s a corm! You can leave it and it’ll grow a baby in there, or you can take it out and have it grow separate

Awe, this makes me so happy! Which is better to do in your opinion? I’ve heard they like being together but also ….another separate Alocasia is hard to pass up🄹

I personally left mine in for now, I’m scared I’m gonna kill themšŸ˜‚

Okay yeah same, I’ll probably wait until it gets a little bigger maybe. Thank you so much for the advice!😊

I waited till i wanted to re-soil/repot mine, then collected all the corms throughout the soil all at once. Then i propagated them separately only because i had so many corms and because i wanted them to sprout as fast as possible. If you leave them who knows when they may sprout if at all. Now that mine all have at least 1 leaf, i’m going to plant 2-3 of them back in the mother pot (to make a nice full plant) and put the rest into a new pot with Pon since they are already used to semi-hydro from perlite prop box. So it all depends what your end intentions are.

Thank you so much for the advice! I’ll definitely separate them now whenever I repot. Do you have any recommendations for soil?
