Hi, I was wondering what types of fish do well with hydroponic plants, and what hydroponic plants benefit from fish. I know that when the fish eats some of the roots, it encourages more root growth, and that it helps the plant stay healthy, and then I think the plant supplies oxygen in the water, only if there is sunlight, and oxygen is essential for the fish to breathe underwater through its gills, or else it will drown. There was an observation done, in botany, where if you put a hydroponic with a lid on in a jar full of water in the window, sunlight will help it to produce oxygen in the water, where opposed to storing it out of sunlight, this would not happen, in order for oxygen to supply, would I have to keep it in a greenhouse in the sun with some ventilation? I Don’t want the fish to get too hot. This also begs the question for a garden pond, with koi fish, lotuses, and lilies. How would a garden pond benefit in a greenhouse? I’m pretty sure it has to be direct sunlight too in order for the oxygen to supply. I’m thinking about how to have healthy fish, and plants, if I were to do that, I would like it to work, whatever way that’s best possible.

hi! i would say most fish do well with hydroponic plants. if you want healthy fish and plants, i would definately make sure you know how to properly take care of the fish (filter, big enough tank, maybe a heater if they are tropical fish, and knowing when to do water changes). there are also aquatic plants that you can get at local fish stores. these will also provide oxygen and help keep the water clean. also, when learning about keeping fish, either do your own research, or ask the employees at a local fish store, not a chain pet store. hope this helps!
