Gnats

Hi all! I’m hoping for some advice. I have a money tree that I’ve cared for since it was a baby, and she’s now quite large and still growing. I also recently added a baby olive tree to my collection. This season, I’ve noticed a plethora of gnats, and they seem especially drawn to those two plants. So far, I’ve cleaned my windowsills with Clorox, used plant-safe spray on the plants, caulked the windowsills, added a Zevo UV light catcher, and had my building come out to exterminate. They’re also scheduled to come again on Tuesday. I don’t have fruit sitting out, and I keep a very clean home, so I’m at a bit of a loss. We live in a sun-facing apartment, and I’m wondering if the combination of warmth, plants, and soil moisture is making things worse. Has anyone dealt with this before, especially with money trees or olive trees? Any advice on what to do next to minimize or get rid of the gnats would be so appreciated. I am very much not a bug person, and they are driving me crazy.

Bonide systemic added to the dirt will stop the cycle. I add it to my plants each spring, when I bring home a new plant or when I see gnats.

There are also yellow sticky traps that you can put in the soil of your plants! I’d suggest doing it on the plants that the gnats are drawn to.
