Should I be repotting new plants outta their nursery pots as soon as I get them?? I had someone tell me to do it immediately cuz they are reused and full of diseases.

If I have time and energy I prefer to repot my new plants. But itās mainly because most plants are somewhat root bound when sold at nurseries, or in bad/old soil.
4 gillningarYeah Elin I normally always do but I wait until they are outta quarantine. Another question for you, should I be shaking the old soil off?? Thatās what Iāve been doing but then some ppl say donāt mess with the root ballā¦.sry Iāve been doing the plant mom thing for some months now but I still feel like a newb!! šš±š

You can carefully remove some of the old soil, though thereās no need to remove it all. Most plants handle root disturbance and some damage quite well, but some plants are more sensitive and require a gentler touch. - like stressed plants, or delicate cuttings/seedling.
3 gillningarTy Elin for the advice!! I think Iāve been stressing them unnecessarily so I definitely appreciate any advice that I can get!!šš±š
0 gillningarI do wait until the plat tells me it needs to be repotted but if I can see that it has a ā death plugā I repot within a week
2 gillningarWhat is a death plug?
1 gillaA death plug is a plug mesh that nurseries use to propagate plants. The story started on Facebook several years ago. I donāt really agree with the story. Iāve had several plants with plugs. The only time I have a problem is when I buy a plant and want it for semi hydro. I usually canāt get the plugs off because the roots have grown thru it, which is the intention.
2 gillningarI usually do, especially when buying a plant in warmer temps. I have no time for bugs. if they canāt survive a full spa day on day 1 then they didnāt belong in my home anyways
1 gillaFuey I most definitely agree with you, and I love your take on it!! I was so worried about stressing them but youāre exactly right!!! Full spa day it is!! āØš±āØ

I always do. I find that the nursery soil is almost always what starts a plants decline. So I always rinse it under water to knock any pests off, and repot with all new soil mix appropriate for the plant. As mentioned above- I almost always find death plugs when I repot.
1 gillaTy everyone for the awesome advice!! I agree I prefer to do the spa day thing but I was afraid I was stressing them but like Fuey said if they canāt survive a full spa day then they donāt belong in my house!!
