Is this whitefly damage? This is my variegated sea hibiscus/mahoe. He is the love of my collection and the bane of my life. He has had whiteflies all summer. Iâve been managing them, but in the last two days heâs had a ton of leaves turn suddenly yellow (see pic) and developed this brown pattern on others (first pic). Does it look like whitefly damage? Some context. For whiteflies, Iâve: -treated with neem oil -grown marigolds -washed him frequently Nothing has eradicated them, but Iâve managed the numbers. Weeks when I canât mitigate heâs gotten a few yellow leaves but leaves stop turning yellow when Iâve gotten their numbers down. Other problems he has had: -out growing his pot. I repotted him twice this year because heâs had two fits of bad health and I suspected root rot. Both times they were super healthy but he was root bound badly. Heâs taken off after Iâve repotted him both times -being nutrient deficient. The nursery recommend 6-12-6 fertilizer last time he had a bad spell, but I was repotting him anyway, so I just chose really good soil -being too dry (he needs water twice a day during Texas summers) -being too wet. Jury is out on this one but with our 50-90 degree weather heâs been staying wetter and seemed over watered at the pre-set once a day timing. He could now be too dry again though the soil seems fine. Bonus question: both the latest white fly treatment (pryerthin) and the 6-12-6 fertilizer is 1 diluted gallon to 1,000 acres. How am I supposed to scale that to a single bonsai? I canât seem to find more reasonably measured products. If he wasnât so sentimental, I wouldnât be so desperate, but he is and the nursery sold off the mother plant (he is my second attempt) he is from so any help is greatly appreciated. The purple pot is when I got him last October and the second one is him a few weeks ago.
Hello - my Pothos was doing great (picture on the right from a few months ago, picture on the left now), and then all of a sudden started drooping. I thought it was due to a lack of light so I relocated the plant and watered it and now it has dark spots on the leaves. Please advise!
Hi everyone! Iâve been dealing with thrips on my monstera since end of September. Iâve been spraying and wiping the leaves and stems with insecticidal soap. Iâve also given it a few cold rinses in the shower. But those thrips are still there. Definitely less, but Iâd like to take my plant out of quarantine. If thereâs one problematic leaf, I think itâs the middle one, which I see the most thrips on, however this middle stem also started sprouting a new leaf so overall it seems the plant is still doing well. Any advice what else I can do to get rid of the thrips but not harm the plant and hopefully save the new leaf and let it grow in? TIA! đ
Hi guys Iâm very new to looking after house plants Iâve got angel wings but they donât want to cooperate at all. There are pests and the stems rot and fall apart not the roots. Some stems donât seem affected.
Hi everyone, my husband and I just moved into a house with a preexisting garden. I noticed two of the citrus trees have scales AND mealybugs. Any advice? Itâs clear the garden was neglected while the house was vacant for over a year. Thank you!
Got a Drosera Spatulata âsundewâ from my local plant store (discounted) any tips to bring it back to life? I currently have it under artificial lights 8hrs a day and water it with distilled water.
* A Friends Plant * A friend sent me this today and I about threw my phone !!!!!! She will be throwing it and starting newđł
Does this look like scale or something else? Itâs slightly raised so I thought it was scale but I canât scrape it easily with my fingernail and even wiping it down with a rubbing alcohol soaked paper towel and kind of scrubbing at it wonât remove it. The plant is generally underwatered and is a couple of metres away from an east facing window.
I have this Christmas cactus that I rescued from an office that just didnât have enough hands or indoor light to care for it⊠I had it outside in the last few weeks of summertime and it did pretty good but as itâs gotten cold I think it started dying (although the flowers are coming in slowly!). I live in southeast Ontario so itâs pretty cold at night already⊠I brought it inside but am wondering what else to do to take care of it! Itâs somewhat recently been repotted and got new soil and was doing great⊠itâs the cold that we hate I think. Any and all advice welcomed!!! Thanks! âš
I bought a mini monstera and it almost died and all the leaves turned yellow and fell off but I think it was bc of under watering. But it wasn't dead, I stuck it in some water I think and it turned a bit more green? i repotted it since it was pretty good roots still but there's no drainage and the soil might be a bit compact it's just thick like not the best soil I had on hand but it was a miracle project I didn't think it would work. The pot was empty so I just stuck Purple Heart trimmings in. The monstera seems like it's still trying to grow I just don't know what to do with it.
Can someone tell me whatâs wrong with my monsterra? I altĂ©rnate giving it light but one leaf and stalk turned completely yellow. I water when itâs dry.
Brown spots and pale leaves? Whatâs wrong with my cantaloupe? My cantaloupe is putting out more flowers, but ever since it got overwatered in a rainstorm itâs been doing badly. I moved it into a dryer location close by and have been following the Planta water schedule and adding rain days, but itâs looking worse. Hereâs how it looks now vs before.
How can I help my plant?
Whatâs going on with my bambino? I got her from a plant store in June and sheâs been doing great up to now. Planta diagnosed this as a watering imbalance, which might be the case but Iâm interested in what others think. My girl recently sprouted a new leaf but I noticed the ends of her leaves were browning. There is also a weird spider web substance under one of the leaves. I snooze the Planta watering schedule because the soil is often still wet. Sheâs under a grow light if that helps. Thanks for any input!
Mushroom in my mint plant, should I be concerned and how do I properly get rid of it đ
Need some opinions! I got this prayer plant around June, it did well for about a week, then all the leaves but the big one turned brown. The medium sized leaf was new and unfurling when the rest died. I dramatically cut it back, repotted it, changed its soil and moved its location. I did this around August. Since then you can see itâs made an excellent recovery, as itâs retained its last healthy leaf and even gave me a new baby leaf! My question is: would you cut off the medium sized leaf with the browning edge? If itâs taking away from my new baby leaf Iâll cut it, it just makes me sad to cut it again. The first big cut I removed 5 large leaves :( I do see those specs of mold in the photos (this plant is above my head so I canât usually see the dirtđ ), Iâm gonna take care of that too! Help!
just bought this Monstera Albo and it has these white dots in the soil. Are they bug/pest eggs?
Hi. Iâm new to Anthuriums and this new one I have recently bought as strange yellowing on one of its leaves. Literally only one leaf. No sign of pests or rot. I was thinking lack of humidity may of caused this. It now lives in a converted greenhouse cabinet with humidity currently around 85%
Does anybody know whatâs wrong with my spider plant and how to fix it?
