Hi plant friends! My sister has a red aglaonema plant that didn’t look like it was doing well so I took a look at the root ball and it was mostly root rot. I haven’t had success propagating these to grow roots again. Does anyone have advice? I rinsed off the dirt and took off the rotted roots, and then soaked it in a hydrogen peroxide solution. I will cut off the orange ends to fully get rid of the rot. And then let it callus for 24-48 hours. Am I on the right path? Then what?
Would love some advice for transplant shock/root rot from a first time plant mom. I overwatered a peace lily that I’ve had for 3 years and it got some pretty bad root rot. We had to do some aggressive manipulation to get rid of it all and reported it in a smaller pot, so it’s currently having some pretty bad transplant shock (photos of day of repotting vs today, 5 days later). It only gets indirect light and I’m trying my best to keep the soil moist/damp but not waterlogged. I know the app says it’ll look worse before it looks better, but I want to be sure I’m not missing anything 🥲 TIA!
Can anyone help me ? I’m not sure what’s going on…. The small one won’t stop flowering but the bottom leaves are wrinkle and dropping ! And the big doesn’t flower but it’s pretty tall… just a few days the bottom leaves started turning yellow and dying 😞
My jade tree is suffering and the AI is bouncing between under and over watered. Any advice for shriveled stems and dropping leaves? No visible pests.

This is Lucy. I have had her for 3 years. (my first plant) I am still fairly new at being a plant mom. For awhile now, I’ve noticed these sugary, sticky things on the underside of her leaves. A lot of what i’m reading says spider mites but I’ve also read it could be due to tap water? I see tiny specs but they don’t move and almost resemble sugar. I also see tiny hair-like things but I don’t know if it’s webbing or if it’s pet hair? I have 3 dogs and a cat. I have 18 plants I believe? Right next to her and don’t see anything on any of my other plants. If it is spider mites, what should I do? any advice is appreciated.
My tomato plant was doing amazing all summer but maybe it got too much water from all the rain? Not looking great but brought it in under the awning. It’s produced a ton of fruit this summer. Please help.
I see a lot of posts asking how to handle fungus gnats. I had a bad time with them last year. Did a lot of research and trial/error. So, here is a summary of advice and products, not just what works for me, but what others mention that works for them too. Yellow sticky traps or other flying bug traps: Great as general maintenence for the adults and an indicator of the severity. But this does not get rid of them! There are still eggs and larvae living in the soil. This is where the focus needs to be in order to get free of them. Systemic granules: I use everytime I repot or bring a new plant home by mixing it into soil. It makes the plants less "tasty" to bugs and not just gnats. It needs to be reapplied about 6-8 months. Takes time to see results initially, so definitely use for control and maintenence. Mosquito bits "tea": Works for some by adding it to their watering routine. I didn't see too big of difference. But, I think using this is good for control and maintenence. Diatomaceous Earth: This was my game changer. I spent over 4 hrs on a Sunday (I have 150 plants) sprinkling it onto the dry soil of my plants. Within days there was such a dramatic decline. I cried when I realized I spent a full day working in my home office and I had not batted away 1 single gnat or that I didn't need to refill my water glass because 2-3 gnats decided to go for a swim in it. People also mention beneficial nematodes or other natural bugs as being their success. I don't know too much about this and haven't used any, but it may be worth a try. Finally this gnat spray: If sensitive to smells, be careful. It's a strong scent. If I notice a gnat stuck on a trap, I spray the soil of that plant and the ones next it. I'm finding it good for maintenence. It's been well over a year. I would love to say my home is 100% gnat free, but I can go weeks without seeing one, so I'll say 99%! Good luck with your battle!
Hello, Can someone help on this ? My plant is showing those yellow spots. I asked AI once and suggested that could be water excess , however the other girls in the same planter look good, please some ideas 🙏🏻
Can someone help me with my pothos plants please? The leaves keep turning yellow. From googling it, it seems like it’s due to overwatering, but I only water as often as the app recommends. Also, when I poke the soil, it’s not damp at all. Not sure whats going on.
Hi all! I’m having some problems with my croton petra, which has never given me any issues before & I’m not quite sure what’s going on. The first pic is 11 days ago and she was all good. She proceeded to drop NINE (!) leaves 5 days ago (pictured). 4 days ago, I checked her roots and gave her some fresh chunky soil in the same size pot (she was in an all purpose potting soil). Today, she dropped more leaves (pictured) so only the 3 newest leaves are left! I can’t see any pests and none of my plants near her have any either. Does anyone have any ideas as to what’s going on / what I can do? Thank you in advance!!!💚
Am having on-again, off-again issues with our burgundy Chinese Fringe Flower (Loropetalum). Any hints as to why it does this? It is regularly hand-watered.
My avocado used to be indoors growing in water and I moved her outdoors to soil, she’s got new growth my question is would anyone recommend snipping the brown leaves which she grew when she was indoors or just leave it be? Just don’t want to stress her out if not needed
I have a black raven ZZ that recently joined my collection, and I’m worried that I have it placed incorrectly. Currently it’s near a window, but not in the direct path of sunlight for a majority of the day. I’m a little paranoid after another plant died in a similar spot (pinstripe calathea) and wanted some feedback if this spot is appropriate
new plant mom. my first time dealing with pests. i’ve done research and found out it’s mealy bugs. (i hate bugs) i have neem oil coming tomorrow and ive killed most of them with isopropyl alcohol. any suggestions on how to keep preventing them?
Hi! My coworker has had these bamboo shoots on his desk for a couple years, but recently they have become increasingly yellow and started producing this white dusty fuzz all over. Does anyone know what it is and maybe how to save the shoots?
Hello! My Pilea is hurting. Some of my other plants have thrips, though I haven’t found any on this plant and I am treating it. I have some gnats flying around and are trapping those too. I repotted this plant a few months ago and it has been doing really well… but suddenly the leaves are turning yellow, white, and brown spotted. This is the third leaf I took off and the least affected so far. HELP! What’s wrong with her and how can I help?
